This will be my last post of 2024! Instead of looking back on the year, I would rather look forward to all the bright possibilities that a new year brings. That’s not to say we forget all the secret battles we’ve faced along the way. I think the more important outlook is that you faced them, clawed your way out and came out smiling on the other side. So, here’s to those that kept pushing through. Keep dreaming, keep being weird, keep dancing to your own beat, and most importantly, don’t you dare dim your light. Shine bright. The possibilities are endless, if you just believe.

This was my first time going to mainland Italy and being in the capital didn’t disappoint. Italy reminded me of Greece. It’s beautiful rich culture and food isn’t that dissimilar to my homeland and it made me feel a bit nostalgic. I went there for work to attend the Blockchain Week Rome event, and not only was I able to see a little bit of Rome (a very tiny tiny bit) but I got to do it with some amazing colleagues. Some of whom I haven’t been able to meet in person until now. They made the trip wonderful! But, I definitely need to go back to Italy for a mini vacation. I need to see more of it desperately! ❤️🤍💚

Sundays are all about little adventures. First stop… #protaras
🤍 And in case you were wondering, things are turning out pretty ok. All you can do is take one day at a time, and that’s what I’ve been doing. And as for today, I decided to go for a nice Sunday drive. It’s actually my favourite day in Cyprus to go for a little journey as the roads are always empty. The sun was shinning, the tunes were on high and my smile was from ear to ear. Initially I wasn’t going to go to Protaras, I was just going to go to the beach which is like 10-15 mins away, but I just kept on going!

I never understood people who posted on their socials when something tragic happened with a loved one. But now, in this moment, I get it. It’s because some deserve a tribute of sorts. Some deserve recognition for the life they’ve lived. Some deserve herald trumpets and white doves and harmonious luscious voices singing. I think my mom deserves that. The first photo is from her college days and is of something she loved to do. She loved the theatre, and movies and painting and writing. And she loved her family. She was far from perfect and we might not have seen eye to eye on things, but she was my mom and she was my biggest cheerleader. I think that’s what I will miss most, someone backing me unconditionally no matter what. Someone loving me fiercely. Mom, I’m thankful this was quick for you. I’m thankful for the life you’ve given me. I am thankful that you took a little Greek baby girl from an orphanage 40 years ago in Athens and gave her a chance when no one else wanted her. I don’t speak about that often because people have been assholes about it throughout my life, but it’s fitting to say it now. She loved me like I was blood and I will forever love her for that. Here’s to you mom. You deserve peaceful rest now. I will forever love you fiercely. by @aliiparas

My farewell to London…. I wish I could include more images. Anyway, over the past 2 & 1/2 weeks I was able to see a few people, do some fun things and pack. It was very bittersweet for me. When you spend most of your adult life in one place and then unfortunately have to move, it feels surreal. I made lots of memories and met some fantastic people. People who shaped my experiences there. Thank you to those that have enriched my life. It’s been greatly appreciated. Currently I’m back in Cyprus, and so, a new chapter must begin. I feel like 2024 is the catalyst for greater things. And in case you were wondering (I’m sure you weren’t!) I’m a big believer in putting positivity out into the universe. For some of you it may sound silly. But for me, I experienced it. Over the past year and a half I was exuding negativity and darkness. And then in December something snapped in me, as if a jolt of lightening revived me. I started looking towards the future, mapping out a plan and slowly positivity started flowing in, which allowed me to say yes to new people/experiences/opportunities and so on. I started being kinder to myself and I started to see the old me. That shift was everything and there’s no turning back. I have no doubt 2024 will be a year of major shifts. Some will be a little painful but it will be necessary in order to allow all the goodness in. (What a sap am I 😉) Anyway, London you have been magical! You will forever hold a place in my heart. And I don’t think it’s the end. I think it’s just a slightly different path. I’ll see you again soon.

This took me a while to do, for several reasons. The swirling of thoughts in my head were nothing short of stormy. How do I showcase such a serious topic respectfully? Will it come across as something other than support? Is there even a point to share? Will people understand? If we strip everything away, this comes down to humanity and how we as a collective want humanity to progress moving forward. I will always be for life and the dignity to live it as fully and happily as one can. Sadly, some have not been able to achieve this. Humanity in their world has failed. This ai video that I created is about humans and quite plainly, it’s about supporting those humans when atrocities are wielded mightily in their direction. I will always be for life, in this regard. So ask yourselves, where do you want to be? Where do you want humanity to go? Because as far as I see it, the point of no return is closer than we think. So what do you choose? —- the song is called “Oumi” by Masri. It is not a traditional Palestinian song but in Arabic its title means My Mother, which I thought was fitting for this. It’s a tribute to the mother and the lyrics are beautiful. I was trying to find the same song that’s sung by Inez but IG didn’t have it. Both versions are lovely. Also, since this is done via ai, please bear in mind the attire might not be solely accurate in terms of Palestinian culture especially in todays modern society - I understand this and therefore want to make it absolutely clear that this is more of an artistic interpretation. One last thing to note, the news (and we know which ones) have done an appalling job at covering what’s been going on. We should be ashamed of the society we are living in. #palestine🇵🇸
