Intimacy is not only physical.

It can be emotional, mental, and spiritual—the experience of allowing another person to truly see us.

But when connection has brought pain before, we may unconsciously protect ourselves by building walls from past trauma. We crave closeness, yet fear the vulnerability it requires.

Healing begins when we recognize that protection may keep pain away—but it can also keep love, trust, and genuine connection out.
