Cherche RADIUMINEUSE uncovers a forgotten chapter of Swiss industrial history: the women who painted watch dials with radium-based luminous paint, often at great cost to their health. Rooted in interviews with people connected to the watchmaking industry, the project combines photography, archival materials, and reproductions of contaminated objects to restore the memory of these overlooked workers. Both an investigation and a tribute, the exhibition invites reflection on resilience, justice, and the stories left out of official histories.

CHERCHE RADIUMINEUSE

Zwischen 1918 und 1963 bemalten in der Schweiz Hunderte von Frauen Uhrzeiger und Zifferblätter mit radiumhaltiger Farbe. Ihre präzise Arbeit ließ die Uhren im Dunkeln leuchten. Die gesundheitlichen Folgen trugen viele von ihnen selbst.

In CHERCHE RADIUMINEUSE macht die Dokumentarfotografin Aline Bovard Rudaz historische Fakten und Archivmaterial auf poetische und zugleich eindringliche Weise sichtbar. Die Arbeit eröffnet einen differenzierten Blick auf ein wenig bekanntes Kapitel der Schweizer Uhrenindustrie und auf die Frauen, deren Geschichten lange unbeachtet blieben.
