Wednesday, October 14th, we meet online again with Rita Huni Kuin, NGO Living Gaia, and Alisa to explore what the women of the forest have to share with us. This is a space of relational study, kinship and cultural exchange.

We met last year already for a very rich exploration.

What does indigenous feminism mean beyond Eurocentric ideas? How can we learn from each other and support each other’s processes? Where do our longings and visions meet across cultures?

María shared her thoughts on the theme of commitment before we entered her temazcal dedicated to that theme. Do you follow through on your commitments out of inspiration or obligation? It’s quite a difference. Or do you feel afraid to commit at all?

Magical moments of truth during sunset, the light was piercing through so strongly ~ just before we entered the lodge.

Sound has always been my compass when navigating moments of uncertainty, liminality and not-knowing. Tones, resonances, reverberations, melodies and voices. Cartographies of the unknown, in time and space.

I feel that those fields where we can simply feel and perceive, rather than see, think or verbalize, are more than healing in our times. And we might need them much more with what lies ahead of us ~

This November we are teaching our Advanced Sound Training, for those who already have experience in the world of sound and want to go a little deeper with us, in their practice and in themselves.

Leaving behind my equinox island chapter.

Grateful for it all. The tears, the sun, the friends, the music, the change in me. The sea. The goddess of the island. The epic parties I didnt go to. The early mornings driving my friends kids to school. The nights in ceremony. The sacred fires. The commitment to be there for my loved ones. The support I received when I needed it . The deep talks. The open hearts. The generosity. The gifts and surprises. The soulful connections. The moments of feeling it all. And coming back together.

In the midst of all this global, collective, and also individual and personal turmoil, I think it’s a great moment to listen to Joanna Macy (just as any day and any moment is, tbh). Felt like sharing some words and her vows here, as she is one of my great inspirations, teachers and guiding lights.

With compassion and passion, she might look down at us from the stars and believe in our human agency to work things out together, and never, never lose hope.

So whenever you feel called to deepen your understanding of Amazonian cosmovision from a female lens, you can enter this space of learning, and by doing so, support the mission and vision of the Indigenous Huni Kuin women.

Join this female-led study immersion to deepen your practice with joy and depth. We poured our hearts into filming, editing, and putting together hours of rich video lectures with the Huni Kuin women and their partnering NGO Living Gaia e.V., alongside conversations and teachings from myself, so you can learn with and from them whenever and wherever you are.

Inside, you’ll find conversations on everyday life in the forest, traditional understandings of Ayahuasca, Huni Kuin art and symbology, indigenous feminism, and more, plus guided practices including ritual work, sound meditation, and learning a Huni Kuin song. One of those turning points in the year, that ancient one connecting Cosmos, Earth and Psyche… those celebrated before the Cartesian worldview took over, globalization, capitalism and all those other -isms took hold of us. Feeling this one deeply. Put out a Substack with some more tender and personal reflections as well as cultural orientation and reflection prompts to sit and swirl with that moment. Received so many messages from strangers and from friends who read it. You’re the best.

Have a read, it’s an introduction as well to whatever lies on the other side of now for you ^^

Landing back from the World Ayahuasca Forum.

The forum circled around issues and openings regarding the international use of Ayahuasca amongst so many other themes, it felt more like a forum for stewardship of the living world and an invitation to build alliances across cultures.

It was full on. I enjoyed the deep listening, studying, being present, surprisingly meeting many friends I haven’t seen for ages an making new friends in between talks and magical moments. Days of non-stop input and late night dinners in the old town of Girona, reflecting and deepening on the insights together ~

I was especially moved by several indigenous female voices naming things that so often remain unsaid and unchallenged.
I also enjoyed meeting Colombian elders who spoke of the rise of the feminine with such eloquence and heartfelt presence, something I so often find absent in indigenous male leadership.

It felt utterly essential to listen to the indigenous voices present, given their history, facing millennia of colonial violence and daily existential threat while stewarding some of the last remnants of wild nature. And at the same time, my thoughts turned to the communities tucked deep within the forests who go unheard by the rest of the world, whose names we don’t know, whose stories do not reach us.

Thank you, World Ayahuasca Forum, for having me. It felt like an urgent conversation, yet only the beginning of something still to be discovered.
Feeling grateful for this weekend of council, friendship, and deepening. May we all integrate, and act accordingly.

Tomorrow we are launching GUARDIANS the online study program with the Huni Kuin Women as an on-demand study program for those who want to dive deeper into forest wisdom through the female gaze.

Bunke reminds us: the medicine is not to be taken lightly. Not just any way, not just any moment, not just any drink. It carries prayer, song, deep respect, and proper conduct, passed down through generations. To truly connect with it means to understand and honor what it asks of us. 🌿

Bunke Inani Huni Kuin is a cultural leader of the women in her region. She has traveled widely across Latin America, Europe, and the Near East, passing on her culture and traditions and calling for more Indigenous wisdom in the world. She is an experienced ceremonialist with a strong focus on women’s empowerment, and is co-founder and president of the women’s association Ainbu Dayá.
