He came home with Zachary and I exactly ten years, one month and a day ago. This first picture was taken and posted on my feed that day. Avery was ten and aptly named him King. King has been my partner in the long stretches after drop off and before cooking dinner these years. He and I ran errands, took long walks, went through baskets of fabric samples, kept each other in the best company. This afternoon, he climbed the stairs to my office and sat beneath my desk for awhile before quietly going into the other room and going to sleep for the last time. Rest in peace King, you have been very loved. by @alisondeutch

I found this in progress 2017 snapshot on my phone recently and wished we had properly shot from this angle when the limestone surround was completed, not that the cardboard isn't lovely. That said so grateful to have this documented. It shows a glimpse of a room decorated in the best way, with sourcing from everywhere. The daybed is midcentury and was scored at auction, the steel table is @atelier_de_troupe_ , the side chair falling out of frame is @liaigre_official , the sconces are @charlesedwardsltd , the coffee table is @collierwebb , the vases are from @gardeshop and the log basket is @mecoxgardens . by @alisondeutch

It's no secret I love plaster, I have used it in projects through reliefs and pendants regularly. For color or print adverse clients, it adds warmth through texture and helps to create rich layers without overwhelming a space. I have never placed torchiers, but I quite like these 🤍 by @alisondeutch

There is no better feeling than starting a small construction project in your own home! The original floors in the dining room have an incredible three foot border of herringbone stripes made from 1 1/2" board. The center was puzzling, it had a plywood top ( the previous owners had a rug that covered it) and a 2 1/4" strip floor in a different wood species underneath. We removed everything in the center and are working to complement the border with a new 1 1/2" straight set board in the center. We are trying teak, walnut and red oak. Will let you know where we land 🤍 by @alisondeutch

I have really been slacking this June, so getting ahead of Monday morning with a killer modernist mixed metal desk lamp, after a model by Aleksandr Rodchenko (Russian, 1891-1956) light that sold at auction last week for $1,100. A great reminder a little search can yield such special pieces. by @alisondeutch

I cannot believe it has taken me almost a month to post Avery's graduation, moving cross country the same week has some things upside down. Since birth, everything leads to this, the play groups, nursery school, then elementary...the new friends, old friends, lost friends, report cards, recitals, plays, games, more games in his case, dances, tests, parties. And then before you are ready, it's over. There is this magical day where you see the man you have raised take that huge stride toward his next chapter. Avery, being your mom has been the experience of my life. Dad and I are so proud of you and cannot wait to see what you do next 🎓congratulations babe 🤍 by @alisondeutch

As I type this, my glasses are being wrapped in bubble wrap and boxed. It's incredibly calming to look at past client work and know that my current packing chaos, is just a part of the journey to a well designed and edited home.

We added this bar in a new library in a 1920's Mediterranean home in Hancock Park. The space connects the family room to the living room and opens to the outdoor fireplace 🤍 by @alisondeutch

This sold yesterday at auction for $4,000, which feels like a steal. I adore how the shelves pull out and can all be pushed back in. Such a pretty place to hold different types of collections. by @alisondeutch

Sometimes stone just in the shower and on the sink vanity is enough. We are living in crazy times where it blankets rooms too often. And while it can be gorgeous everywhere, it can also be a lot, everyday.

We installed this house in 2017, so design decisions were being finalized at least a decade ago. Love the calm and the timeless here 🤍
