Hi friends. I can't believe the time has come, but we have reached the ending of my exhibition at @yesprojectspace. I decided that I wanted to spend my last evening in the space listening to music by my favorite composers and sound makers... and that's exactly what we're going to do!!

Stop by anytime between 6pm-9pm to say goodbye to the show, listen to some AWESOME quadraphonic sound pieces, and show my good friend @relationallydennissa appreciation for curating and cultivating this wonderful gallery. ♥️

There is also an event on 10/2 at Ignition Project Space down the road, so feel free to move between both places.

A huuuuuuuuuuuge thanks to all of the composers involved, some of who created new works for this installation. I'm so lucky to be the one to share them!!!

I am hosting a sound installation of quadraphonic (4-speaker) fixed media pieces made by 10 absolutely INCREDIBLE composers. The speakers will create a sort of "auditory room" being projected over the gallery space, and each composer is providing a room to walk through.

This is not a traditional, sit-down concert. The pieces will begin at 6pm and run through the evening on a schedule through 9:30pm. You are welcome to stop by at any time to walk around the gallery, view the art, and listen.

The exact schedule of works will be announced soon!

ALSO, this is the closing evening of My First House Was Red. If you've been meaning to stop by, here is a wonderful chance to do so.

My First House Was Red is officially open at @yesprojectspace! The show is installed until 10/1, so reach out if you'd like to see it. (There might also be a few events in the future...)

Huge thanks to @relationallydennissa for giving me this opportunity and to everyone who came to my artist talk. This project is built on years of evaluating the practice of collage through the lens of proximity and autonomy, how the art form is not just created by images but by the relationships between images and by their relationships with the artist. I have a debut solo art show, "My first house was red," at @yesprojectspace on 8/1, 6pm-9pm. Those of you that know me well know that I've had a series of paper weavings sitting in my filing cabinet for the past 3 years. Now they're going to hang in a gallery!

It would mean so much to see you at the opening, especially those of you who know me for my music. I sometimes feel like my visual art is my secret practice, and so sharing it feels like becoming a larger version of myself.

Wan and I are sharing our dissertation recitals on June 5th, 7:30PM at the Ryan Opera Theater (Bienen). We are both premiering quadraphonic sound installations that will bookend the show. The concert will also feature performances by Zachary Good, Kelly Quesada, Dylan Feldpausch, and the Lilac Quartet.

My piece, "Possessions," mostly consists of feedback from a broken cassette deck. It also features ebow improvisations on an un-tuned mountain dulcimer and cello, played by Gramm Drennen. The title is a play on words, both about how humans possess objects as property and how something can be possessed by a spirit (the interior of the insentient). Love to see you there!

Been typing AI-isms into this 70 year old text-generating machine (a typewriter), the use of which takes a lot of time and effort, unlike the promised frictionless use of the AI.
