Dubai, Pulse of the City by Ali Khaleel (2021-Ongoing)

An ongoing documentary project centered on the older mainland areas of Dubai. Khaleel works across street photography and social landscape, and builds the project out of sustained observation. Dubai is his primary subject and the city that formed him, and it is the complexity of the place that he explores.

The work takes the position that Dubai is better understood through its contradictions than through any single narrative about it. The project emphasizes the idea that home is not where a person is from but where they currently are. by @alitkhaleel
