I have learnt from years of experience how I deal with relationships. To put it short, the calmer I am around you, the safer I feel, and given time I can consider dating.

Please do not start our friendship with solicitations for a date or more than that. I will sometimes give in and you will see fawning behaviours instantly or within 2 weeks of giving in. I’m learning not to give in.

Do talk to me. Do treat me like a human. Do support my regulation by doing swimming, curling, or volleyball with me. Do carry the conversation at first. Communicate and provide opportunities for social connection.

Hope that helps! by @alliedtheadvocate

Forever means forever. When I don’t hear from you, I get worried, then over time unreasonably sad. It can get unpleasant, for you, and for me.

If you’re worried, the best thing to do is reach out after awhile, and reassure me that things are good between us.

Thank you friends 😊 by @alliedtheadvocate

We are announcing a call for speakers to speak at our first Unlocking Connections conference. Please email info@unlockingconnections.ca with your pitch. Online or in person venue to be announced once our program is developed.

We’re excited and ready to host a now one day conference to test it out and see the viability. We plan to have it in January-February 2027. by @alliedtheadvocate

New West just elected 4 years of a right wing government here. FML. More nonsense. More of the New West Police Department. More #kryesingay drama. More calls from random phone number. Less city services. Screw this. And where does my favourite social service CRCL stand in this?

Thank you for ruining my life Mr. Fontaine. Now get to work and destroy the city I love. I didn’t vote for this crap. taken in New Westminster, British Columbia by @alliedtheadvocate

Went to the Ski Patrol ski sale today to pick up some ski clothes for @raymond.zhou97 for a good price. I didn’t want him to miss out on this opportunity. Tomorrow me and Raymond are registering for @vassmagic! Got to see James in person today too, always a pleasure. taken in North Vancouver, British Columbia by @alliedtheadvocate

Today I’ve been working on Bubbl, @weareodssbc’s new client support portal. It’s now ready and happily in production.

I encourage those with ODSSBC staff and contractor email addresses to sign in to Bubbl and have a look around. Be aware that everything you do on Bubbl I can see, and it’s this way for auditing requirements for Community Living BC. As an agency that hopes to receive clients from @communitylivingbc, paper trails and data locations are important to us to keep compliant. by @alliedtheadvocate

Busy girls need school and tools. This morning I got myself a Claude code subscription. It takes the excruciatingly painful task of writing custom apps and makes it take hours. You just give it a prompt and it will go to town and write the code for you, all you have to do is test it.

I’m always looking at ways to improve my efficiency and use my time better, study and write excellent papers, work in the community, and spend less time on IT. taken in Kwantlen Polytechnic University by @alliedtheadvocate

Whipping up an app really quickly using AI to manage our client information. I can’t wait to see what Claude comes up with!

As one of my friends said, don’t use AI to develop an internal app. However, I will do a cursory audit of the code before pushing it into production. by @alliedtheadvocate

I’ve had some profs scoff at me for using AI in class. I want to make my position clear on AI and the use of AI in academia.

I use AI for many reasons. I DO NOT USE AI to do my assignments. Here is what I use AI for:

- to converse with a piece of literature of academic text: I use AI to help me understand what I am reading. I use it to dumb down academic topics into statistics and plain language explanations that I can understand. If I am unsure what something means. I can ask AI to explain it to me, or recalculate a statistic in a format that I can undertstand. The app I use also allows me to converse with academic material. It’s like having a prof in your pocket.
- Reading excessively long articles, book chapters: sometimes you are given or need to read a 40 or 50 page chapter, slide deck, or book. My eyes get really tired really fast due to my dyslexia, and distracted due to my ADHD/bipolar. AI helps me my extracting the key points from the text. I make sure AI only reads one source at a time so I can track citations properly. In this context I also use AI to tell me which page of the material a key point is in so I can properly cite it and paraphrase it properly. Sometimes I use it to develop test notes and brainstorm quickly from source material which makes developing notes and ideas more quickly.

There are ways AI can be used to aid a person with a developmental and cognitive disability in comprehension of academic material. Contrary to public perceptions and beliefs, I do not “use AI to write my assignments”. It’s a tool, and when used properly, can aid in comprehension and learning.

I understand professors and deans concerns about AI and academic integrity, and the rampant misuse of AI in the classroom. I criticize my classmates every day for using AI to do the work for them, and in one case, I had a student asking me to use AI to write an assignment on a group project, to which I refused that request.

I have my boundaries on AI usage in schools, and we must continue to discuss the use of AI in academia. And learn to use it to aid us, and not do the work for us. by @alliedtheadvocate

It takes courage to go. It takes courage to stay. Staying is easier than going.

It also takes courage to silence things out for a few weeks. Time to focus on school and let the stress melt. No Sunday night group. No work. No supporting others. Not until I’m better.

I was advised by CRCL to make this decision to help me get out of this manic episode.

I’ll be back at @weareodssbc in a few weeks! See you soon. I will still post during my break on my person account only. taken in New Westminster, British Columbia by @alliedtheadvocate

Sparkle girl can look forward to a kind hearted, gentle letter in her email inbox in the next few weeks. I’m approximately 3/10s of the way there.

I’m investing in friendship, quite literally. taken in New Westminster, British Columbia by @alliedtheadvocate
