🇺🇸 A VERY SPECIAL BLACK BELT 🦅🔥

Tonight was an amazing and emotional night at Alliance Greenville.

I had the honor of promoting Allison Brown to Black Belt, becoming the first female Black Belt promoted from our academy. 🙏

Allison came to us as a Blue Belt, and after almost 10 years of training, she has finally reached the rank of Black Belt. I’ve had the opportunity to watch her grow not only in Jiu-Jitsu, but also as a person, in her artistic craft, and as a martial artist.

One thing I have always appreciated about Allison is that she is her own person. She has a strong personality, an artistic mind, and she thinks deeply about things. Through the years, we have had many conversations that challenged my way of thinking as well. As coaches, we teach our students, but if we are paying attention, our students teach us too.

I also recognize that her journey has not always been easy. Jiu-Jitsu has traditionally been a male-dominated environment, and the experience of a woman coming through the ranks can be very different from ours as men. There are challenges that, as a male coach, I may never completely understand. But I have watched Allison navigate those challenges, continue to show up, and continue to work on herself.

Her discipline, work ethic, consistency, and commitment to Jiu-Jitsu are qualities that I respect very much.

Tonight is also special because the next generation of women and young girls who step onto our mats will have someone they can look at and know that this path has been walked before them.

Allison, thank you for trusting me and Alliance Greenville with your journey. Thank you for all the years on the mats, the conversations, the challenges, and everything we have learned together.

I’m extremely proud of you and honored to call you one of our Black Belts.

Congratulations, Allison. You earned it. 🖤🥋

Im so thankful for yesterday, for a magical fun day at one of my favorite shows.

@upstaterenfaire put on their Midsummer FairyFest which is a small and intimate show with a great vibe and an incredible staff. Im honored for it to happen in my hometown.

Days like this are the the days I get to sit back on my metaphorical laurels and just listen to the song that has become my life. I get to see how all my friends and colleagues in the area are growing and flourishing. I get to see the support of the community, my friends, and my family as I build my business and my art. AND I get to see a diverse group of people come together and celebrate something that little girls love. ( and I think that might be the best part ( boys too!))

Thanks to everyone who came to my booth at either Pride or Fairyfest! It was a big day with the wind and the rain causing a lot of chaos. HA! So when I say I had a great day with all that going on, mean, it was a great day! ( knocked over table and soaked inventory aside)

And really big thanks to my crew and family for all their help this weekend especially with the storm. To Alicia and Liz for running the booths, to my parents for their rescue with needed supplies, and to my sister Kristin for helping me handle the storm and being my party companion. 🖤

We had an amazing time in New York! We watched the Cursed Child and athe Book of Mormon, both were very good. The Cursed Child was like nothing I've ever seen, It was absolutely amazing. Everything so well orchestrated and the visuals stunning 10/10. I highly recommend this on Broadway. The book of mormon was of course funny and A great broadway experience as well. I didn't know anything about it going in Except that it was written by the writers of South Park and they didn't hold back on their trolling, as always. 🤣 by @allisonanne_b

Another successful weekend at @uhuburg for Castle Faire! I was so busy I didn't get to take many shots but I managed to snap a selfie of my Sunday kit! It kept me warm in 31 degree weather so I count that a success. It was my fist event with my swede coat and I love it!!!

Big thanks to the staff at Uhuburg for putting on a great event and to my customers who picked up some beautiful new pieces. What a great start to the year!

Another Alliance lady levels up! Congrats to Sarah for her promotion to purple belt tonight! Its always a special moment when we have a lady reach the advanced level. Its not easy to get to this belt- it tests your willpower and comitment for sure! Sarah worked hard and consistenly to get there.
