While exploring Austin and finding sustainability stories worth sharing… look what I found.😍🏡 Built in 1935, Rutherford Place in Travis Heights has quite the history. Originally a duplex, it was later divided into THREE apartments before architect Carina Coel of @restructurestudio transformed it into a modern family home. I love the original archways, wood floors and that some door hardware were saved and reused. At least that’s what some people think when I tell them my workout clothes are THRIFTED. But here’s a little science for you. 🧪 🧺 Washing works! Research shows proper laundering removes sweat, body oils, dirt and reduces microbes on clothing. 👕 New doesn’t automatically mean clean. Brand-new clothes can have manufacturing residues, and other shoppers may have already tried them on. Even dermatologists recommend washing new clothes before wearing them! ♻️ Secondhand doesn’t mean dirty. I inspect my finds, wash them properly and give them another life. So yes, I’ll happily sweat through my secondhand workout clothes. And then I’ll wash them. Again. 😂 More for me! 💚 hat where you draw the line? 👀 Style sustainably. Shop secondhand.
