Austin to San Antonio in just 30 minutes… UNDERGROUND?! Would you take that ride?

Elon Musk's Boring Company says it's working on a Hyperloop tunnel between Austin and San Antonio, but not everyone is sold on the idea.

🚇 The promise: Cut a drive that can take more than two hours to just 30 minutes.

⚠️ The concerns: San Antonio leaders are divided, with some pointing to safety and environmental questions. The Boring Company has faced more than $112,000 in OSHA fines connected to its Las Vegas project.

⏳ The reality: There's still no construction timeline, and no commercial Hyperloop system has been built.

What a day! 🙌 I was thrilled when the Texas Conference for Women asked me to help with last-minute pitching help & press coordination. This was the BEST volunteer role.🩵 It offered me the chance to build and renew relationships with local journalists.✏️ Y’all know how much I love this event! While I didn’t get to hear many speakers, the ones I saw were spectacular (Tunde Oyeneyin!!!). Can Zilker bounce back before ACL Weekend Two? 🌧️🎶

Three days of rain and festival crowds left parts of the Great Lawn a muddy mess. Now the race to recover begins.

C3 Presents says it’s bringing in extra resources and working daily with Austin Parks and Recreation to get the Great Lawn ready for another weekend of ACL.

More showers and storms are possible today, and Austin remains under a Flood Watch through 7 p.m. The good news? Temperatures finally settle into the low 80s this weekend.

🌊 Highland Lakes: The Llano River at Llano crested over 12’ this morning, and LCRA is moving floodwater downstream through the Highland Lakes.

Starcke and Wirtz Dams are passing floodwater into Lake Travis, which has room to store the incoming water.

LCRA currently does not expect floodgate operations at Mansfield or Tom Miller dams (which would impact Lake Austin and Town Lake).

🎶 ACL: As of early Friday morning, Weekend One is still scheduled to begin today, with gates opening at noon. Maybe rethink the festival fit: good shoes over cute shoes this weekend.

⚠️ Flood threat: A Flood Watch remains in effect across much of South Central Texas through Friday evening. The National Weather Service says widespread totals of 1–4 inches are expected, with isolated amounts up to 10 inches possible.

🚨Austin Water recently upgraded the warning sirens at Longhorn Dam. If floodgates need to open during a severe runoff event, the sirens sound first to warn people downstream that water levels and currents could change quickly.

🎶 What about ACL? Weekend One is scheduled to start Friday at Zilker Park. Austin officials say emergency and evacuation plans are in place if needed — while longtime festivalgoers may be having flashbacks to the muddy mess of 2009.
