Enjoy my old school bookstagram reel of some of my #dracula editions ~ I started collecting editions in the countries that I visited ~ I did receive a lot of weird reactions “why would you buy it in a language you can’t read” ~ but I just love celebrating Dracula and I love the fact that they are in their own beautiful languages that my friends and family can look at as well 🥀. #bookcollector by @allshereads

I’m not going to lie, this cover slightly scares me but I love the optical illusions that are so creatively entwined together.

I went through a solid period of LOVING dark gothic novels that stay in your dreams long after you’ve finished reading - @spookypurcell is one of my absolute favourites, so when I saw and read the blurb HONEYEATER, I knew it was time to dive back in.

BLURB ~
Subtropical Bellworth is founded on floodplains and root-bound secrets. And Charlie, remarkable only for vanished friends and a successful sister, plans to leave for good, just as soon as he deals with his dead aunt’s house. Then Grace arrives, desperate, with roses pressing up through her skin, and drags Charlie into the ghost-choked mysteries of Bellworth, uncovering the impossible consequences of loss and desire - and a choice Charlie made when he was a boy. by @allshereads

Let me introduce you to my current read: THE HEART OF THE NHAGA by Lee Young-Do who I have recently learned is known as the father of Korean fantasy. This book has been translated by Anton Hur.

THE BACKGROUND

Three handles one.
The world is divided by the Line of Limit. To the north are the Tokkebi—fire people able to manipulate flames as both weapons and illusions; Rekon—giant birdmen with immense strength and warrior acumen; and the humans—as divided as the other races are unified. To the south are the Nhaga—a reptilian people who relinquish their hearts for immortality. For centuries, the races didn’t cross that line, but change is in the air. A Nhaga is being sent North…and a trio is being dispatched to make sure this agent from the South makes it out alive—one from each race.

CURRENT TIME
I’m learning who is who and where their allegiances lie. I think this is my first time reading Korean fantasy so I’m VERY EXCITED also this series is called THE BIRD THAT DRINKS TEARS. Who is this bird?! I want to meet them. Immediately. EPIC NAME FOR A BOOK SERIES.

Update: another website references Lee Young-Do is the grandmaster of Korean SFF, so if that doesn’t tickle you!! by @allshereads

I literally need to know. Who is this man? Why does it matter? Why does my brain hurt so much? Does it even matter? Is he just the chosen one? Why is he the chosen one? The son of a conquered country????? #thewillofmany by @allshereads

THE PHOENIX KING ❤️‍🔥⚔️🔥

Ngl I was viciously ROPED IN by @spirited_gal’s epic reels and who doesn’t love a fiery (literally) protagonist!?

This book has so much packed into it: a morally grey love interest / complicated family politics with deep secrets / geopolitics / and epic magic.

And the ending. EXCUSE ME @spirited_gal!????? Why did I not see it coming 😂. I was so disappointed in myself.

I loved the relationship between Ferma & Elena ~ it was so genuine and I could feel the warmth and love jump off the page into my heart.

I also really enjoyed the blend of modern technology against what felt like an ancient setting. The battle scenes were fast paced and energetic and I almost wanted to duck and every pulse gun being fired at Elena and Yassen!!

Very much recommend to fantasy lovers ❤️‍🔥⚔️🔥. by @allshereads
