Every couple of years, it feels like the school year looks different for us.

We’ve been doing this homeschool thing for over a decade, and I’ve learned that individualizing their education means being willing to let it look different from child to child and from season to season.

I can know my children deeply, pay attention to what’s working and what isn’t, and make the best decisions I can. But ultimately, God knows them better than I ever will.

Every year, I ask Him what they need. This year, I’m learning to trust His answer even when it looks different from what I planned, feels uncomfortable, or leaves me wondering how it’s all going to work.

Maybe that’s where the trust comes in. Not needing to understand how all the pieces will fit together before being willing to follow where God is leading.

So this year, I’m holding the plan a little more loosely and trusting God a little more deeply. Not because I can see exactly how it will all work out, but because I trust the One who can.

My kids have always been “box kids.”

If you’ve ever had children more excited about the box than what came inside it… you know exactly what I mean.

Looking at my youngest playing in her box recently reminded me of how much I used to join in with them. Sit in the box. Pretend. Laugh. Create stories.

And honestly, it also reminded me that I needed to slow down and pay a little more attention to my own health too.

As a homeschooling, work-from-home mom of 3 in my 40s, I expect to be tired sometimes… Life is full.

But I’ve been learning the importance of paying attention to my own baseline and not ignoring when I feel more run down than usual.

This season has been a reminder that taking care of myself matters too.

Just documenting a little bit of motherhood, health, and learning to be more intentional about both.

And yes… I still plan on sitting in boxes with my kids a little longer.

I USUALLY don’t get into trendy topics or people’s business on social media… but here I am 😬🤭

Just adding a little context to the conversation:

YES, #DrCheyenneBryant is correct. Argosy University permanently shut down.

YES, the licensure process, exams, and the BBS can absolutely be a pain… but they also exist for a reason.

AND as an honors graduate of #ArgosyUniversityAtlanta who attended classes in person and went on to become a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, I can confirm that Argosy transcripts are still accessible through Parchment.

So yes… some of us still have proof of the long nights, papers, practicum hours, internships, and student loans 😭😂

Ain’t no way I worked that hard and don’t have proof of it. Just saying 🤷🏽‍♀️

𝓓𝓮𝓪𝓻 𝓜𝓪𝓶𝓪𝓼,

Motherhood has a way of teaching us how to keep going no matter what.

And somewhere in the middle of serving everyone else, many of us quietly stop paying attention to ourselves.

Our mental health.
Our physical health.
Our spiritual health.
Our emotional wellbeing.

Recently, I went to the doctors, and my conversation with the doctor reminded me how easy it is for mothers to ignore themselves while caring for everyone else.

Just because we look healthy doesn’t mean our bodies aren’t silently suffering and trying to tell us to have a seat.

We cannot continue pouring from an empty place and calling it strength.

I’m not writing this as someone who has mastered balance perfectly. I’m learning too!

I’m learning that taking care of myself is not separate from taking care of my family… It’s part of it.

This Mother’s Day, I just want to encourage anyone who reads this in its entirety to go to the doctor, get that check up. Schedule that dentist appointment, optometry appointment, therapy session, etc.

Happy Mother’s Day and please take care of yourself!

When the world feels crazy, JUST #CROSSFIT 🏋🏾‍♀️😮‍💨

When I first started @inglewood.fit , I was nervous and scaling everything.

Now… im still scaling 🤣 AND, I’m stronger, more confident, and lifting weights I once thought I’d never be able to lift.

CrossFit keeps reminding me that real progress isn’t overnight. It’s built one rep, one set, one workout at a time.

Whatever you’re just beginning, just show up. Show up scared, show up tired… but show up!

The strength you’re looking for will meet you along the way.

And remember… don’t compare your journey to anyone else’s. Comparison is a thief. Stay focused on YOUR progress. ✌🏾#progress by @allthingsdeitra
