“Better” is out in the world. Pretty surreal.

Peeling back one layer (song) at a time & more to come.

Finally not afraid to say the things I’ve needed to say. Being honest about your doubts and disorientation in your faith can be scary. Esp if you care to feel understood & feel like you belong - which I typically do. And now, I just really don’t. I just think it’s more important to not live a disembodied life.

You can hold two things in hand - doubt can exist with faith. I invite you to hold space for the tensions you have - we all have them. God isn’t offended and He can handle it. 🤍

I’ve also come to acknowledge that being human isn’t the enemy of our spiritual life. It’s actually a pathway to accept & embrace His mystery, presence, & design.

It’s a gift to be an embodied person feeling and breathing and experiencing many things all at once - fear, doubt, love, care, trust, distrust, etc. When we lean in here - we find God right there.

I believe this is a needed communal conversation. For the healing of individuals, communities, churches.

Turns out, He isn’t afraid of our humanity. Perhaps He is more kind, more generous, more long suffering, & more present & with us than we thought.

breaking the silence! hi again 👋 ally here!

behind the “scenes” - or in the real life moments, behind all the social media glimpses we all take in and also create, documenting life and all the happenings …. Behind it all there’s a living breathing reality for each of us. 🌸

here’s where we start. Right here in the middle of it all. For me - that’s with these two beauties (only half of our full crew) twirling, painting nails, dance parties, tantrums, whining, finding butterflies, wandering through fields of flowers, taking it ALL IN. And finding my greatest creative inspo RIGHT here. ✨

For me, lately there’s been a lot of creating, reimagining, and even taking in new forms of how I view myself, community, and the world. Leaning into what it truly means to be present, living embodied.

ESP in regard to our personal contributions we each *uniquely give to the world that can truly serve, awaken, and breathe life.

One of those things that is shifting in a great big way is the way I attach myself to the art I create. The roles I (we) play in the world, the things I (we) can contribute - just learning to not let these “roles” identify WHO I am — on the contrary…..

What I have found to be true is that if you want to show up just as yourself - stop THINKING about who you are. Stop trying to figure it out. the best thing you can do is start by accepting what “is”. And just LIVE into it. Lean in, listen, acknowledge, hold space. Let it be a communal experience - not simply an individual one.

What I mean by this is — your real self — not the curated one…the actual one is found when we learn to embrace what IS our life and what ARE our actual circumstances, the real faces & places in our lives - we start finding the JOY and the inspiration and the dreaming RIGHT there in the reality — here’s what I personally found….

All the art Ive always wanted to create and bring into the world….the best way for it to actually come into the world is by just….

A new year. A turned page.

What does this mean to you?

Many of us are walking into this newness carrying both hope and also pain. Acceptance of what is, and still feeling disappointment for what isn’t. Hope for what could be.

I used to believe that I couldn’t have trust or faith if I had any ounce of doubt. As if one cancels out the other.

I’m unlearning many things & this is one of them. You too?

There is always both and perhaps even multitudes of emotions and feelings and experiences at play all at once.

If you haven’t been told - You are free to feel it all. To acknowledge it all. In fact, I invite you to. For in acknowledging, we honor.

Finding peace in the release, the surrender.

And perhaps this is what it is to be human, to pivot, to surrender, to fail, to turn a page, to acknowledge pain as we embrace hope.

I want to invite you (and I) into more of a focus on becoming and less of a focus on the doing.

This past year I personally felt God invite me into many things. Maybe the greatest of all was just to start things even when I didn’t understand the full picture.

To some, this may have looked messy, but to me it looks like progress. Even growing and blooming and release.

So often I have felt so paralyzed and stuck due to caring deeply about how others perceived me (& even greater - how I perceive myself!) that I never tried anything. I never even let myself start. I stayed stuck.

I invite 2024 as the year you and I continue to pivot as we need and want to, putting aside the perception it may give, and inviting the grace and power put within us to walk a step at a time, imperfectly and acknowledging we are human and also beloved. We are free to do this under the loving care and guidance of a kind Father and master Designer.

May you feel this same freedom.

You are seen, embraced, and loved dear friends.

when a song has layers & layers of depth & nostalgia….🫠

first of all, when I saved this song, I saved without a title. Oops. Sorry - it’s “yellow” y’all - you know this one 🌞 tried to go back and deleted the whole thing. So here we are.

If this gives you a glimpse of what I do throughout my days - writing songs and recording memos of songs circling my mind. 260 memos in 🙃

This song….doesn’t it evoke something just unexplainable? I feel like you could attach so many different facets of insight and wisdom from these words. ✍️

Which ones strike you the most? Do tell 🤔👇🏻🫶🏻

For me, it’s the last part - “you know I love you so” and I think this is why —

Is it just me or isn’t it so often that when someone shines, like they really SHINE - they inspire, or they just show up in a way that literally just lights the room up with their talent or wit or skill or beauty - that this doesn’t evoke insecurity or offense in the gal right next to her?

Somehow we think if SHE shines, maybe I won’t shine, or maybe I don’t shine in a way that matters, or whatever and however you imagine that scenario.

But we all know this well, right? 😅

This is worrisome. We are MEANT to shine - when one shines, it stirs another to shine, to step into who they really are. It should inspire, encourage, enlighten, and even evoke awe.

Awe of what? For me - a God who designs with intent. 🎨 With creativity.

It’s a glimpse of His artistry. His beauty and goodness. And when we lift His artistry, we glorify Him and we serve the body.

When we shine, He shines in us. When He shines - those around us gets just a taste of who He is.

Don’t we want this? Don’t hold back, dear friend.

Lean in. Do what scares you.

What no one’s telling you…. I promise 😘

Stop buying travel size bottles & expecting full size results. ✋

Not hitting home? Okay, this is a little confession. And a mindset shift. 🤯

One of my weird quirks : (& evidence of my evolving scarcity mindset)….

Instead of investing in full sized bottles of products, I will oftentimes purchase the travel size.🤷🏼‍♀️ hint : it’s not because I’m an avid traveler. 🏔️

The truth : we’re used to operating within scarcity. We don’t recognize the patterns that keep yielding the same results. Right?

I.e. grabbing onto little piece by piece info, trying to make sense of it without any strategy or plan, expecting that anything can or will change. 🤦🏼‍♀️

Searching google, YouTubing your way through to make sense of this online space, grabbing onto random info here & there from influencers on TikTok - sound familiar? 🤔

Time to get honest with ourselves. Where do we need a shift? 👀
