My grandma was a very special person. She was the example of generosity, thoughtfulness, and showed all of us how to love unconditionally. She always sent me cards, left me voicemails, bought me any vegan snack she came across, and remembered every important event in my life. She attended nearly every performance I ever had, even if it was 15 min outside at a block party.

My heart is hurting but I feel so incredibly lucky to have 26 years of wonderful memories with her that I will forever cherish. Her and my grandpa had the most beautiful relationship and were still so obviously in love even after 56 years together. I feel grateful to have been able to witness their love all these years.

She got to pass exactly as she wished - peacefully, at home, surrounded by family. I will remember her when I see figs, when I hear Frank Sinatra, when I go to Maui, when I eat pavlova, when I grow mint or scallions or blueberry plants, and when I hug my family. Rest in peace, grandma, I’m so glad you’re not in pain anymore. I love you so much❤️
