October is jam packed with activities and things to explore within The Garden and Lilidorei 🍁

🎉 It’s our 25th Anniversary! 2nd - 4th October | Discover the story behind The Garden with unseen footage, enjoy rides, games and performances throughout the day, then watch as The Garden comes alive after dark. Each evening, there’ll be fire jugglers, stilt performers, bubbleologists and a spectacular Grand Cascade water display featuring screens, lights, lasers and fireworks

🎃 See The Garden transform with Autumnal colours into The Pumpkin Garden. Take part in our Pumpkin Garden Scavenger Hunt and join in some fun-filled harvest games during October Half Term!

👻 Spookydorei at Lilidorei | Enjoy spooky games, hear chilling tales and see The Village decorated for Halloween through the spooky and not-so-spooky paths. Trick or Treat around the village collecting sweets in your very own Spookydorei Tote (additional charge. As night falls, join us for tricks, treats and a boo or two! Spookydorei Days – 10th October – 1st November | Spookydorei Nights – 23rd October – 31st October.

💒 Wedding fair – 24th October | Come along to our Autumn Wedding Fair where our team will be on hand to provide you with information on our packages and answer any questions. Meet some of our recommended suppliers and visualise how your perfect wedding day could look.

🪜Careers fair – 29th October | Meet potential employers with live jobs or organisations who can assist you with your next steps into employment.

📖 Join Si King of the Hairy Bikers at Alnwick Playhouse on 15th October, to celebrate his new cookbook, Proper Home Cooking. Hear his food stories and inspiration, followed by a book signing. Proceeds support The Bright Garden Appeal, a joint fundraising appeal by The Alnwick Garden and Bright Northumbria Healthcare Charity.

🐶 Dog days are Thursdays and Sundays*

☠️ Poison Garden Tours | Do you dare to enter the black iron gates and see what lies within The Poison Garden this spooky season? Tours are a £1 additional charge and must be pre-booked.

The Alnwick Garden is 25 today! 🎉

It all began with a bold vision from The Duchess of Northumberland; to create a contemporary garden, built on the abandoned site of Alnwick Castle’s old kitchen garden, that would educate, inspire and invite people of all ages to explore and play.

Fast forward 25 years, and we are incredibly proud to still be doing just that! The Garden is still helping families create lasting memories, welcoming visitors from all over the world, building community and supporting those who need it most.

To mark this very special occasion, we are bringing together a weekend packed with entertainment, activities and plenty of surprises!

🎞️ During the day discover ‘The Story Behind The Alnwick Garden’ with unseen footage from The Garden’s creation, shown on a huge screen in front of The Sage Wealth Management Grand Cascade.

🖼️Explore our 25 years of The Alnwick Garden exhibition display in The Pavilion.

🫧On Saturday enjoy rides, games and performers, including bubbleologists! *

🌹 Take part in our ‘25 things to do challenge’, exploring The Garden in a whole new way and seeing how many you can tick off during your visit.

🎆 As night falls, The Garden comes alive in a whole new way with fire jugglers and L.E.D performers leading up to a spectacular Grand Cascade water display with lights, lasers and fireworks.

Recently, we welcomed local primary schools back to our Roots & Shoots Allotment to harvest their allotment plots! 🥕

There’s nothing quite like seeing the children get stuck in, get their hands dirty and discover where their food comes from 💫

Our Roots and Shoots Allotment is so much more than growing plants and veg though, it’s home to many of our charitable programmes.

Through our Roots & Shoots programme, children learn all about healthy eating, the importance of staying active and how rewarding it can be to grow their own food 🥬

Along the way, they’re developing practical gardening skills that they can take with them - whether that’s back to school, into the garden at home, or simply sharing what they’ve learned with their families 🌿

It’s officially Autumn 🍂

The equinox has hit, meaning that pumpkin spice season is well and truly upon us! A time for crisp mornings, golden leaves, cosy afternoons and the changing colours of the season 🪵🍁

Why not embrace the change of season and come and see it for yourself? Grab yourself a hot drink from The Bakery or Pavilion Café and wander around The Garden seeing all of the amazing colours that are starting to make an appearance! ✨

Don’t forget, dogs welcome every Thursday and Sunday throughout Autumn 🐾

Don’t let the pretty colours fool you! Brugmansia, otherwise known as Angel’s Trumpet, is a highly poisonous plant, toxic to humans and animals.

As the name suggests it is famous for its downward-hanging trumpet-shaped blossoms, with their flared rim. The flowers can reach 30cm long and come in shades of white, yellow, pink, orange and red! 🎺

Every part of this plant is highly toxic because it contains dangerous alkaloids like scopolamine, which can cause intense hallucinations, seizures and even death in the most severe cases! Instead of music, this toxic plant produces a sweet perfume that when inhaled can produce effects including headaches, nausea and light-headedness. But not to worry! The flowers are closed and lack fragrance during the day, but open and emit scent in the evening 🪦
