TAN in Yuyuan Garden is an easy add to any Shanghai itinerary

Michelin-starred Sichuan food, a central location, and prices that were surprisingly affordable

Make sure you make a reservation on weekends and holidays as it might get busy! However, they do take walk ins so go check them out!

I’m 34 and I’m not afraid to admit that…

1. My month income is currently $0. I quit my stable, well paying insured job to pursue ✨happiness✨and well… I’m happy

2. I often think about how different my life would look if I never moved to Thailand, would I be married, with kids, a house, and a strong career but I know this is the life that was meant for me

3. I thought that being 34 would feel a lot more… adult than it does - often I think how the hell did someone trust me with this - but they do and I’m crushing it

4. I am scared for my future - I like having a plan - and right now not having one is a growing chapter in my life and I’m excited yet terrified to see where I end up

5. I nap for hours a day. Sometimes I get frustrated that I’m not doing enough, but napping is what helps my body get enough sleep and that’s what my body needs

6. I feel guilty being so far away from my family - but I also know that they are happy for me

7. I never wanted to move to China - the preconceived notions of the Chinese people I had met in the US, my interactions with my Chinese step mom kept me away. Now it’s the one place that has felt the most like home

I thought that life should have plans. A correct path. But with each life decision my life is propelled onto a road I often didn’t even know existed.

I find myself discovering the small details of a world that felt so limiting but is really endless in possibility.

In a quest to do things non-food related, I went to a glass workshop!

If you’re looking for something unique and fun to do in Shanghai, you can add this to your list!

Lulu, our teacher, was so kind and patient as we tried glass making for the first time. It was the perfect environment to try something new and pick up a new skill.

Each session lasts about 90 minutes with a 30 minute lesson and 60 minutes of craft time. We were also required to wear safely gear as some of the glass can get up to 1000 degrees Celsius.
