…Is getting her confidence back, one step at a time ✨
💜Reminding you that Alopecia isn’t linear
POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
OMG!! I cannot believe this is my first time organising a wig fitting 🥹

So many pinch me moments, walking into the salon, speaking to other women getting their hair done, learning about how the wig is cut and styled and speaking about my experience. This was honestly such a special moment 🥹.

I had the most amazing experience @katishairandbeauty and I love my wig from @hairvirginity 💜

Who knew it took loosing my wig to pluck up the courage to buy one I actually really love!

This is your reminder to try that new thing, you might surprise yourself 💜💜💜

WE ARE ALLOWED TO BE LAYERED✨

Some days I don’t think about my alopecia at all…
And other days it’s the only thing on my mind.

Nothing about this path is linear…
Nothing about you or me is fixed…

We’re allowed to hold two truths at once.

We’re allowed to evolve, regress, contradict, move forward, heal.

WE ARE ALLOWED TO BE LAYERED, say it with me, I am not just one thing 💜

A love letter to the alopecians navigating different parts of their identity💗

#alopeciaawareness #alopecia #blackhistoryeveryday

Race and hair are connected in so many ways which is beautiful thing 💗

What does it mean to be a black woman when you loose your hair? These are the questions I used to ask myself.

A signal of beauty, defiance, culture, pain and history 💗

It’s more then hair 💗

Lack of representation will always haunt those who do not see it…

The unraveling of the self and what it means to question two core parts of yourself…

It starts with practicing acceptance; little by little and letting the mess exist at the same time 💗

Identity is complicated for us all💗

Let’s make space for women of colour living with hair loss 💗 Happy Black history month 💗

Week 71: Braving the Bald 💜👩🏾‍🦲

Let’s give it up for the impromptu Bald journeys!!

These are my favourite!! It gives me a chance to not think about it too much, I had an urge to take the wig off and I listened 😌.

I love it when I’m in tune with that voice because she knows me better then anyone else 💗

Sending love to you all this week 👩🏾‍🦲

As Alopecia Awareness Month comes to an end, I want to start by saying - it doesn’t end here!! 💗

I will continue to talk about alopecia, because living with this lifelong condition doesn’t end when the month does.

Embracing the struggle, the beauty, and the complexity of alopecia is something that has taken me years to do, and honestly, I feel like we’re only at the beginning.

So, Happy Alopecia Awareness Month to all my BALD AND BALDING BADDIES. 👩🏾‍🦲🥹

I’m proud of us for showing up, for sharing our stories, for navigating the hard days, celebrating the good ones, and finding our own ways to exist confidently in a world that doesn’t always understand us or allows us the space to figure ourselves out 💗

Alopecia isn’t linear, and neither are we.

Here’s to continuing the conversation. 🫶🏾

Week 70: Braving the Bald 🌟

A love letter to my people - thank you for supporting me through all the seasons of alopecia 💗💜

It's good to look back and remember how far you've come. Little old me would avoid any social event with family, friends, or strangers if I were bald, fast-forward 10+ years, and I'm doing it!!!

Happy Alopecia Awareness Month to the family, friends and partners that show up and create safe spaces for us, it means the world 💓

1. Self awareness - I love that loosing my hair has allowed me to be aware of others, I’m a sensitive soul and I’m finally learning to embrace that 💗

2. COMMUNITY - I love my alopecia sisters, brothers and in between, seeing other people like me fill me up in a way that heals me 💜

3. Alopecia has allowed me to seek out deeper connections 💗

4. It encourages me to always be kind to others, because you may never know what people are going through 💜

5. Understanding that people aren’t just one thing, people are multi dimensional and I love to learn about others beyond what they look like 💗

6. The journey to the self, It encourages me to embrace the long life journey of the self and all it’s beauty and hardship. 💜

7. Having alopecia makes me strong in the sense of showing up everyday despite the internal struggles I have and that is a beautiful thing 💗

Anyone have anything to add? 💜

The complexities of having alopecia 👁️👩🏾‍🦲

1)Loosing your confidence and regaining it over again, the cycle never stops

2)Not seeing enough representation of yourself artistically but finding the strength to search for it yourself

3)Learning to love yourself beyond your hair

4)feeling like you’ve lost control of how you look

5)Learning to be seen but also wanting to hide

6)Relearning what beauty means to you

7)Deepening your sense of self

8)Actively searching for people who understand your experience

9)Getting ready - the feeling fluctuates

10)Choosing to speak about your hair in the right spaces

12)Feeling like you have to overcompensate in other areas

13)Handling intrusive questions - bye ✋🏾

11)Self acceptance 💗
