Happy Rocktober to all who celebrate 🎃

A few snaps from our AAI guides-only AMGA Rock Guide Course, where we’re pushing each other to the next level while enjoying alllllll the fall colors at the top of every pitch 🍂

Oh, and did we mention that the course is led by Alpine Ascents director @jonathon.spitzer? He just can’t resist returning to his guiding roots to lead our internal AMGA courses. taken in Washington Pass by @alpineascents

The treasure at the end of a long Mont Blanc summit day is… a giant chrome Easter egg? 🥚

The Goûter Hut, and the hut system at large, is at the heart of what makes climbing in the Alps so special. Warm and comfortable accommodations, full meals, and the chatter of excited climbers make nights spent high in the mountains a highlight in their own right. ✨

Just a week ago we stood on the summit of Mont Blanc for the final time of the season. After summitting we headed down for our reward - a fresh tarte du jour at the Goûter hut. taken in Mont Blanc by @alpineascents

And just like that, we’re off belay ✌️

Our final Washington climb of the year is in the books. The tents are packed, the pickets are pulled, and our guides are letting those musty mountain boots finally dry out 🦨

A huge thank you to our staff and to every climber who joined us this summer. It’s a privilege share the rope with you 🫶

Rainier, we’ll see you soon on skis ⛷️ Please have more snow!

$83,955.

That’s how much 16 tenacious @SheJumps climbers raised in support of women’s empowerment in the outdoors- all through this season’s Rainier fundraising climbs. Wow, just wow. 💪

And the momentum continues! Next year’s Baker and Rainier fundraising climbs JUST DROPPED. If this is a mission you can get behind, hurry over to SheJumps and make your next climb count. We’ll see you there! 🏃‍♀️

Wrapped up another guiding season in Washington! As always, I’m left feeling pretty lucky to have such a cool job, work with the exceptional humans of @alpineascents, and get to poke the 24 spikes on my feet into the glaciers of Tahoma and Kulshan over and over and over again! 🦔 by @alpineascents

Let the ladies of Alpine Ascents set the record straight: the only talk about women in sports should be a celebration of what they are capable of 😌 by @alpineascents

On the move on Manaslu!🇳🇵

Our Manaslu expedition effectively marks the start of fall here at Alpine Ascents, when our Washington climbing season winds down and our focus shifts toward longer expeditions abroad. Happy to report this year’s Manaslu trip is well underway!

Led once again by Ben Jones (obv), our 2026 Manaslu team is looking strong and settling into life on the mountain. Their journey so far has included acclimatization hikes above Samagaon and Samdo, monastery blessings, and even a birthday celebration at one of our favorite Himalayan tea houses.

After settling into Base Camp (15,900 ft), our climbers joined the full crew for a puja ceremony to ask for safe passage before heading higher on the mountain. The ceremony started in rain, but towards the end the clouds opened to gorgeous weather. We’re taking that as a great sign of the Puja!

The team is now at Camp 1 (18,800 ft), where they’ve been acclimatizing for a few days and practicing the route through the icefall. Next up: moving to Camp 2 at 20,700 ft!

Follow our cybercast as the expedition continues!

What’s the secret recipe for climbing El Dorado? 📜

According to our 2026 Guide Development Program, it’s equal parts dialed rope work and concentrated napping, with just a dash of Twister🍸

🔴🔵🟡🟢

Led by former students of this same progression, the BIPOC Guide Development Program has spent the summer honing skills to become the next generation of mountain guides. You’ve seen the full crew climbing throughout the Cascades on official training trips, and shared a rope with solo team members on many of our summer climbs from the Kautz on Rainier to Fisher Chimneys on Shuksan.

On every objective they’ve blended serious technical training with community and fun. We’re thrilled to have spent the summer together and we can’t wait to see where this crew goes next!

Vision, design, and mentorship from all-stars @mountainmaryanna @jorgedeaventura @theresasilveyra @zestebandito @shanecrobinson @sofiapetros, gear sponsorship from @thenorthface & @blackdiamond, and most importantly Twister credit to @jessie_pouchet 🙌 taken in North Cascades National Park by @alpineascents

Our hearts are with the people of Nepal following the devastating floods that swept through the Bhote Koshi and Trishuli river valleys in northern Nepal this week.

Nepal has been at the core of Alpine Ascents since our earliest days. For more than three decades, we have had the privilege of climbing, working, and building lasting friendships there. We are deeply saddened by the destruction impacting so many communities.

Many organizations are working to provide critical support, including the Nepal Red Cross Society, American Himalayan Foundation, and the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund. For those who would like to help, we’ve shared links in our bio to the IFRC’s Nepal Flash Floods Emergency Appeal, as well as the AHF’s Crisis Response Fund.

We encourage those who are able to contribute in whatever way feels right to them, whether through the IFRC, AHF, or another organization providing relief.

We are thinking of our friends and all those affected as rescue efforts continue. 🇳🇵❤️🤍 by @alpineascents
