Broderick Thompsonā€™s ski racing journey has been one of resilience and determination. šŸ‡ØšŸ‡¦ Ā  The Whistler native made his World Cup debut on home snow at Lake Louise in 2014. It marked the beginning of a career that would see him represent Canada at two Olympic Winter Games, including an eighth-place finish in the alpine combined at Beijing 2022. Ā  After a knee injury in 2018 kept him out of competition for two years, Broderick worked his way back to the World Cup circuit. In December 2021, he earned his first World Cup podium, finishing third in the super-G at Beaver Creek. He followed that with a ninth-place finish in the KitzbuĢˆhel downhill in 2023. Ā  A major injury sustained during training at Beaver Creek forced him to miss the 2024ā€“25 season. Broderick worked through his road to recovery showing the resilience that had defined his career. Ā  Congratulations on an incredible career, Broderick. Thank you for everything youā€™ve given to Canadian ski racing and for the perseverance youā€™ve shown throughout your journey. Wishing you all the best in what comes next! by @alpinecanada

The early mornings, long days, andĀ little details that make the big moments possible. Ā  Behind every start gate, finish line and podium is a coach who believed, challenged, and supported our athletes. Ā  This National Coaches Week, weā€™re celebrating the coaches who give so much to our athletes and our sport. šŸ‡ØšŸ‡¦ Ā  Thank you for everything you do. We are building Canada strong through sport right here in Calgary, Alberta and across all of Canada! ā›·ļøšŸ‡ØšŸ‡¦ Ā  Our government has made a generational $1 billion investment to strengthen the Canadian sport system. Ā  This year, $112 million in new federal funding will help national level sport organizations better support Canadian athletes and grow grassroots participation. Today, I am announcing $8 million for Alpine Canada for the 2026ā€“27 season, which includes $2.7 million of new funding. Ā  We are investing in our world class sport system that supports athletes, enhances training, expands grassroots and adaptive skiing, and advances safe sport integrity measures. Ā  This investment is creating the conditions where the private sector wants to invest. I applaud Capital Powerā€™s leadership by meeting the moment with an incredible $5 million initial investment in Alpine Canada, followed by an additional up to $20M in winter sport over the next 5 years.Ā  Canadian public-private collaboration represents a true Team Canada approach. Together we are strengthening Canadaā€™s sport system from playground to podium. ā›·ļøšŸ‡ØšŸ‡¦ taken in Calgary, Alberta by @alpinecanada

Alpine Canada is proud to announce a new long-term partnership with Capital Power to help shape the future for winter sport in Canada. Ā  Capital Power will invest $5 million in the first year, supporting athlete pathways, coaching, national training centres, event hosting, community programming and high-performance initiatives across alpine, Para alpine and ski cross. We are proud to announce that with this investment, team fees for national and development teams will be eliminated, removing a financial barrier allowing our athletes to focus on training, development and performance. Ā  With a potential total investment of $25 million over the partnershipā€™s initial term, this commitment is designed for an amalgamation of at least one additional national amateur snow discipline, coupled with additional incremental government funding. Today, the Honourable Adam van Koeverden, Secretary of State (Sport), highlighted the Government of Canadaā€™s investment of $112 millionĀ in new federal funding, highlighting more than $8 million in 2026-2027Ā invested in Alpine Canada, which includes this roll out of a top-up of $2.77 million Together, weā€™re building a stronger future for Canadian winter sport and creating more opportunities for Canadians to participate, compete and pursue podium success on the world stage. taken in Calgary, Alberta by @alpinecanada

It is about helping communities build the coaching, partnerships and follow-up required for athletes to enter the pathway and stay involved.Ā  Ā  Click the link in our bio to apply and learn more!
