✨I had the privilege of attending the LMI Youth Townhall, held in commemoration of International Youth Day, on the theme “State of Youth Representation in African Parliaments.”

What stood out to me was the opportunity to be in a room where young people were having real conversations about governance, political representation, leadership, and the future of Africa.

It was wonderful seeing young people not just talking about the challenges facing our generation, but also asking important questions about how we can become part of the decision making process and contribute to building better institutions.

For me, the experience was a reminder that youth participation in governance should not be limited to being represented by numbers. Young people need spaces where their ideas are heard, their perspectives are respected, and they can actively contribute to shaping policies and decisions that affect their future.

I also appreciated the emphasis on mentorship and intergenerational collaboration. Preparing young people for leadership requires creating opportunities for them to learn, engage, ask questions, and gradually take on greater responsibilities.

I left the townhall encouraged by the conversations I heard and the people I met. More importantly, it reinforced my belief that the future of African governance cannot be discussed without young people being part of the conversation.

We are not just the leaders of tomorrow. We are already stakeholders in the Africa we are building today.

Highlights from the LMI-NALTF & National Youth Policy Dialogue held on Wednesday, May 6th, 2026. 🇳🇬✨

The dialogue brought together youth leaders, policymakers and stakeholders to discuss practical strategies for strengthening the implementation of the National Youth Policy and advancing meaningful youth inclusion in governance and national development. 🤝💡

At the heart of the conversation was a shared commitment to moving from policy discussions to measurable impact for young Nigerians across the country. 🌍🔥

The Nigerian Youth Parliament remains committed to promoting youth participation, leadership and policy-driven development for a better Nigeria.
