This is what I needed today and if it finds you, I hope it’s what you need as well.
North Carolina is wonderful for so many reasons but water is one of the big ones. There’s countless streams, rivers, lakes…even the ocean.
Mountain streams dominate so many of the trails and landscapes and I honestly can’t imagine living without them. Even more so, waterfalls are everywhere.
It’s still a touch cold here, especially in the higher elevations, but soon I know that we’ll be stomping around in our @chacofootwear , getting muddy and soaking up such an important part of what loving North Carolina means to us.
Water is life.

At all times possible, I’ll move mountains to bring these dogs with me.
They’re not very well-behaved by any one’s standards. Mingo will run away if off leash in a second, and Brutus is still working through some leash anxiety.
They’re honestly a handful.
But when I see how excited they get when they realize they’re coming with and how happy they are when they’re out with us exploring, it’s immeasurable.
So yes, I will always be the girl who asks if my dogs can come with. And frankly, I’m starting to adopt more of a “if they can’t come, neither can I” attitude and it seems to be working out quite well.

We love Savannah for so many reasons but mostly because of all the beautiful green spaces the city is built around 🍃
Savannah is an old port town on the coast of Georgia in the southeastern United States and has so much history.
One of the first planned cities in the United States, Savannah’a downtown area is focused around 22 park like squares. Each one is a little different and most have important historical associations tied to them.
Savannah is also known for the cobblestone streets, their absolutely gorgeous colonial architecture, l amazing southern low country food, and a vibrant arts and culture scene.
Suggestions on how to spend a day in Savannah include:
•Walk around Forsyth Park
•Head to Tybee Beach for the day
•Grab some cocktails at @repeal33
•Head to River Street for some shopping
•Go on a haunted ghost tour
•Visit the @mercerhousecarriageshop from Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil
•Tour rhe @davenporthousemuseum for a cool piece of preserved history.

I sometimes wonder how I didn’t grow up knowing the ocean and all her glory.
The Midwest is something beautiful but it’s not known for the sandy landscapes of the coasts.
I went to Folly Beach last weekend and had an absolute dream of a time, from the amazing waterfront, so many cute stores, bars and restaurants, proximity to Charleston and just an overall excellent experience.
10/10 Folly, y’all are the real MVP 🥰
All clothes rented from @nuuly , jacket is a gorgeous @annasui piece that I wish I could keep forever, dress is @forloveandlemons , hat is my absolute new favorite accessory by @bronerhats

This is North Carolina ✨
I remember driving from Chicago to North Carolina for the first time, in the middle of winter going to meet Cazzies family for the first time.
There’s a little pass that goes through the most beautiful stretch of landscape and I just remember being in awe.
Flash forward to a little later that year, we made the same drive but in May and the trees were all neon green, covering the mountains as far as the eye could see.
I’ve been in love ever since.
And while we still love traveling, seeing th world and the other countless beautiful places on the planet, there’s something about here that is just home.

The other day Cazzie had to work all night, so I spontaneously loaded the dogs into my car and decided to hit a hike close by our house.
I’ve done this hike a million times but never by myself, so I spent extra time packing a bag to make sure I had everything I might need for any reason. I honestly almost didn’t go because I was so nervous.
I admittedly don’t solo hike much, but the feeling of freedom that I got was immeasurable. Just me, my dogs, and the wind whistling through the mountains.
I didn’t stay for sunset because while I was feeling pretty dang good, I didn’t want to hike back out in the dark by myself just in case. And that’s ok too.
This hike reminded me of a lot…of the beauty of this area we call home. Of my own individual abilities. Of the insignificance of so many things.
Life is so beautiful. I think we just sometimes forget to live it.

Looking for a cool spot to stop for a snack in Antigua? Read the caption for more details!
We wandered around the streets on our own walking tour, and decided to stop at @tacoolgt (Ta’Cool) right across from these ruins for a refreshment.
The ruins you see are the Church and Convent of the Society of Jesus- built starting in 1690.
Not only was this our view as we enjoyed a snack and drink, the street was bustling with people and it was beyond fun to watch the world go by.
As a bonus- the food was good too!
Save this post to remember the spot, it’s definitely worth a stop!

The food in Guatemala seriously surprised me! There were so many options from typical Guatemalan meals to more western dishes like açaí bowls.
One thing I can say- it was all SOOOO good.
Some dishes that really stood out:
• açaí bowl from @pensativohouse breakfast
• every single tortilla we had…how do they make them so good 😊
• street pops from the cutest man in parque central in Antigua
• nachos from @antiguabrewing_co
• every cup of coffee I had
• amazing open faced quesadillas from @guajimbos in Panajachel
Other spots we wished we could have tried were the ramen spot in Antigua and the traditional dish of pepián but we unfortunately ran out of time 😭

Y’all ever try to find fun breweries when traveling?
We were pretty thrilled to find @antiguabrewing_co when we went to Guatemala and loved trying their selection! Plus they had an epic rooftop terrace!
Brewed on location, we loved their atmosphere and range in beer options. Their food was also phenomenal!
Looking to try some beer on your trip to Antigua? Brewery options in the area include:
•Antigua Brewing Company
•Antigua Cerveza
•Cerveceria 14
•Tap and Barrel Brew House (taproom with local options)
And of course, you’ll want to try the national beer, Gallo, when visiting! Cheers 🍻

Traveling to @antiguaguate soon? Here’s a list of what is in our opinion, 6 must-do activities in Antigua, Guatemala!
We had so much fun and this isn’t an exhaustive list but I don’t think you can leave the city without at least doing them.
•visit the Santa Catalina Arch is a must! It used to be a hallway of sorts so the nuns could get across the busy street without being seen. Get there early to avoid crowds!
•visit hotel Casa Santo Domingo for history, luxury hotel living, and even art galleries. We’ll worth walking around.
•Find a rooftop to hang out on! There’s plenty around the city, and the views are honestly out of this world. The nachos at @antiguabrewing_co are phenomenal and their outdoor terrace is dreamy.
•walk around the city, taking in the Spanish colonial architecture. Did you know Antigua was one of the most important cities of that era, behind only Mexico City and Lima?!
•experience the nightlife! I had no idea it was going to be so wild at night on the weekends, and we met so many people both local and international. The bars turn into straight clubs, so bring your dancing shoes 💃
•and last but not least, drink so much local coffee. It’s seriously so good, and bonus points if it’s in a cute garden courtyard. I could spend my whole life drinking coffee in garden courtyards, I couldn’t get enough of it in Guatemala.
Save this post so you don’t forget!!

We wandered around the grounds of Hotel Casa Santo Domingo one of the days we were staying in Antigua.
We were so blown away by how amazing the hotel did with preserving the history of the almost 500 year old monastery that used to be there.
Looking for the best hotels in Antigua, Guatemala? Save this post:
•Hotel Casa Santo Domingo
•Pensativo House
•Porta Hotel
•El Convento
•Meson Panza Verde
•Hotel Antigua
You can’t go wrong with any of these options but we particularly loved Casa Santo Domingo for the immense amount of history on the grounds, and Pensativo House which was the house of an ex-president of Guatemala for a time!
Check out the blog for the full post 😊
