Still thinking about The Red Thread: Fashion in Concert ❤️🧵

Held at Symphony Center on January 24, 2026, this beautiful evening brought fashion, live orchestra, and movement together in one seamless experience. Back for its third year, Fashion in Concert continues to create such a unique space where design and sound truly share the same stage.

In collaboration with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and the CSO Overture Council, and benefiting the Negaunee Music Institute, the night felt intentional, elevated, and inspiring from beginning to end.

Fox News Chicago Feature 🎥✨

Truly honored to have my work featured on Fox News Chicago as one of the 5 finalists from Columbia College selected for the Driehaus Initiative’s Annual Emerging Student Designer Competition and runway show. @columbiachi

The piece they chose to highlight was one close to my heart — an extravagant hand-dyed indigo kimono, created using traditional shibori techniques, and paired with a mudcloth and black leather obi belt. A look that reflects my deep commitment to culture, sustainability, and cohesion — where every textile, every cut, and every thread carries intention.

Thank you to the Driehaus Foundation and Columbia for the space to bring this vision to life — and for allowing our stories to be seen, felt, and celebrated.

Interwoven Cultures — Editorial Archive
My first and only editorial shoot to date… and this look will always hold weight.

It was the first piece I created for the collection—titled The James Joint Set in honor of @badgalriri —built from instinct, intention, and a vision I had no choice but to bring to life. A sculpted strapless denim gown with a dramatic train, paired with a structural bolero and a waist bag crafted from the dress’s own hem. Nothing wasted—only transformed.

I layered in spirit as much as structure: on the back, a cut-out ankh, symbol of eternal life, placed over hand-dyed indigo shibori—merging African spirituality and Japanese technique. This was a piece that carried memory, movement, and meaning.

It may have closed the collection, but for me—it marked a beginning.

The Black Solstice Fashion Show at the DuSable Museum was the perfect way to begin Black Independence Month ✨

From the moment the show opened, the tone was set with intention. The presence of the ballerina, spoken word artist, and model created a beautiful intersection of movement, storytelling, and fashion. So many creative and well crafted pieces were shown by iconic Melaninated Chicago Designers.🌞The addition of the Chicago Bucket Boys felt both deliberate and nostalgic—a reminder of the rhythm and culture that make this city so special.

The historic Roundhouse was filled with creativity, style, and community. Black artists and brands were showcased and supported, while guests arrived dressed as their most authentic selves, each look reflecting a unique expression of identity and personal style.

Fashion, art, culture, and Black excellence all under one roof. I loved every moment of it. 🖤 taken in The DuSable Black History Museum and Education Center by @alwaysstylin_
