POSTS STORIES REELS

Step into the world.

A place of abandoned gods, dangerous bargains, old powers, and the people left behind to survive their consequences.

This is where the stories begin.

The Keepers — Book One of The Abandoned Gods series.

Stories Spun by Fate.

Gods. Mortals. Power. Desire. The choices we make when fate has already begun pulling at the threads.

This is the heart of the stories I tell.

Welcome. 🌲

Alys Mackay. Fantasy author. Storyteller.

I write romantasy about survival, desire, power, and becoming — set in worlds where the gods have left their mark, even when they are nowhere to be found.

Welcome to my corner of the forest.

🎧 **The Keepers — now in audiobook.**

Six extraordinary narrators. A full Duet Multi-Cast production.

Gods, mortals, love, loss, power — and the choices that remain when everything else has been taken away.

June deBorahae · Keeley Darling · James Cassidy · Edward Black · Benjamin Sands · Troy Duran.

There is something rather magical about hearing characters who have lived in my head for so long suddenly have voices of their own.

Each narrator brought something different to these characters, and I genuinely cannot wait for you to meet them through their voices.

We are entering unknown territory.

The barriers to self-publishing are lower than ever. At the same time, the pressure to create more content, produce polished marketing, and constantly compete for attention has never been higher.

Every author will make their own decisions about where AI fits into that.

This isn’t my attempt to tell anyone what they should do.

It’s simply my commitment to transparency.

The following slides explain how I approach generative AI in my books, my artwork, and my social media, while also acknowledging that the software we all rely on is changing rapidly.

I can’t promise perfection in an industry that’s evolving almost daily.

But I can promise honesty about the choices I make.

So, here’s mine.

Another instalment full of ancient magic, gods, angels, twists and morally grey chaos! 🖤 I loved the multiple POVs, the glimpses into the old world (which had me NERVOUS), and all the unexpected turns. Add a powerful FMC, fated mates and a shadow daddy, and I’m SOLD. So grateful to be part of the Abandoned Gods Street Team! Now excuse me while I impatiently wait for book three because I NEED ANSWERS! 😭✨

Holding my breath on one page, full-on laughing out loud on the next 🫣😂
I’m currently diving into Book 2 of the Abandoned Gods series, and it is every bit as intense as the first! One minute I’m gripping my phone in absolute suspense, and the next I’m cracking up over whatever chaos Aridinos, Ankou, and Mereh have gotten themselves into. The dynamic between them is just gold. ⚔️✨
⚠️ Quick Heads Up: You definitely need to read Book 1 first so you don't miss any of the backstory or setup!

The gods are awakening—but not all of them have risen.
Power is returning unevenly, uncontained, already dividing those who carry it. What was once whole is now fragmented, reshaping itself in ways they do not yet understand.
Mereh is no longer willing to remain what he was.
Ankou finds himself no longer where he once stood.
Aridanos edges toward something that was never meant to be his.
Tsunala holds more than even she realises.
What binds them is no longer simple—and may not survive what they are becoming.
Beyond them, Selene has already begun to move.
The world is shifting toward something it cannot yet name. Not salvation. Not ruin.
A reckoning.
Because to save something means deciding what you are willing to abandon. by @alys_mackay_writes

1 day before The Guardians is out in the world! The Abandoned Gods series by @alys_mackay_writes is a must read!!

If you want ancient gods, dangerous power, found family, shifting loyalties, impossible choices and relationships that refuse to fit neatly into human labels, The Guardians goes deeper into everything The Keepers began.

Expect expanding mythology, epic stakes, powerful women, morally grey characters, fast-burn spice and feels—and real love that takes its time.

Only 2 more days and The Guardians is out!! This is one of my Top 2026 reads so make sure to pre-order 🔗 in bio at @alys_mackay_writes!

If you like dark fantasy where ancient gods awaken, forbidden power has consequences, and
fate is something to be challenged rather than simply accepted, The Abandoned Gods might be
your kind of world.
There’s found family, shifting loyalties, sacrifice, immersive lore and relationships where
attraction can burn hot and fast—but real love takes its time.
And when it comes to love? The gods have little interest in human binaries or labels. Love is
simply love.
