Music and the Mirror - A Chorus Line
From the moment I learned a part of this choreography at a summer intensive, I fell in love with solo and I knew I wanted to use this solo to help me reach a goal I had. I have been working on this solo for the last three months under the guidance of Jessica Lee Goldyn, and this solo taught me to have patience and to never give up on my dreams, and this piece helped me accomplish one of my biggest dreams. Anybody who has met me over the last two years has known that I have been obsessed with the dream of earning a position in the BFA program of Marymount dance department, and after facing a rejection and coming back even stronger, I am so beyond grateful to announce that I have been accepted into the BFA program. I am so grateful to all of my mentors, friends and family who have supported me and guided through my process of reaching this dream. To anybody who is struggling and wants to give up on their dreams, keep working because it will all be worth it. The underdog always rises.
Shoutout to my incredible team who made this solo possible @bz_films @jessicaleegoldyn by @alyssajomarten

Sophisticated Ladies Oct 17- Nov 22 by @alyssajomarten

now that’s jazz, casting announcement🚨

I am humbled to announce that I have booked Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe’s production of “Sophisticated Ladies” in an ensemble role.

Crazy story about how I booked this show as the audition was the evening before my college graduation, all my family flew in to attend a ceremony that night, however I knew I had to go. Low and behold they asked me to comeback to sing the next morning which was my college graduation, and we found a way to make it work!

Thank you so much to my mentors who have grounded me, inspired me and lifted me up as I faced MANY nos. I truly don’t know where I would be without the lessons I have learned and the examples I have followed. Shoutout: @alyssaepstein @jessicaleegoldyn @_maryannlamb_ @omari_wiles @xtina_nucci @renabutler I am forever grateful for your mentorship, guidance and patience.

yall keep going, another no is closer to the yes you’ve been waiting for. by @alyssajomarten

Mr.Bojangles Choreographed by Jessica Lee Goldyn

Less than 100 years ago it was illegal for performers of color to do solo acts, Bill Bojangles Robinson was the first performer to break that law. It is a privilege to be a woman of color performing a solo with masculine movement.

This is a thank you to Mr. Bojangles for his sacrifices, bravery and commitment to community while honoring my inspirations, Mr.Fosse, Mr.Cole and Mr.Bill Bojangles Robinson and discovering where I fall in the lineage of Dance. This solo was dedicated to the past, present and future versions of myself, as I will begin my career with a vow of dedication to bravery, sacrifice and community.

One of the greatest gifts was to close this chapter of my life with the person who I started my Career with, @jessicaleegoldyn thank you for everything.
Thank you to all of my teachers, mentors and peers for sharing dance with me, every interaction with dance has shaped me. by @alyssajomarten

it’s been a month FULL of JAZZ ✨

swipe for so many moments of jazz (community, joy, following the lead of improvisation, being the ear and the voice and playing around) and that’s jazz honey 🍯 by @alyssajomarten

we at the pillow 🙈

a lifelong dream of mine has been fulfilled, and full disclosure i have been trying to get to the pillow for years but something has always gotten in my way of applying. i now realize that i was meant to experience this place, at this time, with these people. what a beautiful and truly diverse panel of educators and inaugural cohort of the Jacob’s Pillow Winter Intensive, lead by fearless leader Maleek Washington. When you have diversity, honey you have magic!

i have so many thank yous to say to the people who helped me get here, as well as the people that will help me stay here. To my community, thank you for loving me at my 10 and 0. To my teachers and mentors who have invested in me thank you for leading with empathy and vulnerability allowing me to feel safe enough to push myself to my limits. To myself, thank you for never giving up and fighting to be in spaces where I do not see myself represented. To Maleek Washington, thank you for making this dream come true and for seeing something in me I didn’t know was there and for being devoted to creating magic through community.

An excerpt of my most recent work “Where Would We Be Without Them?” Inspired by Día de Los Muertos, this is an ephemeral yet eternal tribute curating movement and speech from the -isms of select ancestors of the cast, fusing Jazz in the style of Fosse and Theater inspired by Pina Bausch. In a time where it is an act of rebellion to embrace Hispanic and Latinx culture, I am proud to present this work in collaboration with a cast of women of color, utilizing the small privilege we have to be representation for the underrepresented. I am humbled to announce that I am recent recipient of a grant to debut this choreographic work at Marymount Manhattan College in Spring 2026.

This particular portion is dedicated to my ancestors in Dance, Bob Fosse and Gwen Verdon, referencing Mr.Fosse’s “Who’s Got The Pain?” from Damn Yankees. I am grateful to have been a professional trainee with the Verdon Fosse Legacy for the last two years, the knowledge that has been passed down to me is authentically evident in this choreography. Grateful to my mentors for passing down this legacy to me. @alyssaepstein @_maryannlamb_ @jessicaleegoldyn

I am grateful for my entire cast and collaborators for sharing their stories, being vulnerable and trusting me. @ballerina._.isabelle @luna7244 @ximegurri_official Featured in this clip: @sonia.dove04
