entering the last year of my 30s?! 🫢

This year has been a whole host of things. Incredibly rewarding highs, and lows that have left me feeling hollow. This last season has come at me with an intensity that has tested my patience, my spirit, my heart, amongst many things…

Today, and throughout this weekend, I have found myself truly overwhelmed by how incredibly lucky I am to be surrounded by people who are so loving and kind.

To be thought of, remembered, and cared for means more to me than I could ever put into words.

Our lives are busy, and it’s really easy to get caught up in all of it. This weekend reminded me how much it means when we pay attention to each another. The kind words, thoughtful gestures, and small acknowledgments of care have meant more to me than I know how to express.

I am surrounded by love. And I am so, so grateful. ♥️ taken in Nashville, Tennessee by @am_kida

Bhaktify Immersion 🤍

I came into this week with a really tender heart and left with an enormously full one.

I think that I expected to learn about Bhakti, but I certainly didn’t expect it to give language to something I have been trying to understand for a long time. That love is more than something we feel, it lives in the way we show up for each other, in what we give our attention to, and in how fully we are willing to participate in this life.

To gather, to listen, to sing, to tell stories, to pay attention, to serve, to let ourselves be moved by each another, and to reach into the depths of ourselves to enjoy, to love each other, and to trust. 😮‍💨

There was SO much joy in this week, and there was room for grief too, and somehow it felt like the perfect space to experience it all.

I am so enormously grateful to @seanwildlotusband, who taught with such tenderness, clarity, and care. There is something incredibly inspiring about witnessing someone so fully doing what they are meant to be doing, and getting to learn from the way they do it. I came home thinking as much about how Sean taught and led our group as I did about the teachings themselves. The thoughtfulness behind the week, the way he cared for the room, the patience he gave each person, the stories, the music, and the space he made for all of us to show up honestly have stayed with me. It has already changed the way I think about my own role as a teacher and leader, and the kind of space I want to create for others.

And then there was this beautiful group! 🥹🙏🏼

We sang, laughed, cried, listened, showed up vulnerably, and held space for each other. The way this group inspired me moved me so deeply, and I’m incredibly grateful our paths crossed. Thank you your vulnerability, your authenticity, your hearts and your attention.

I know I’ll be unpacking this week for a long time, but for now I’m just so deeply grateful for the teachings, the music, the stories, the people, and for this heart that feels a little more open to receive it all. taken in Asheville Yoga Center by @am_kida

How much do we miss when we’re not really looking? This morning’s sunrise through the trees in Asheville, I have these words from Brianna Wiest in mind,

“Now, now, now. It’s all happening now. Everything. All of it. Every joy, every sorrow. The sunrise on one side of the world and the sunset on the other. Every memory, every projection, every hope, every fear - all stemming from the forever now.”

This year we embraced community by sharing meals together, watching sunsets, practicing yoga, and taking in the environment around us.

All of these things reflect the essence of yoga just as much as anything we do on our mats.

Italy gives us the most incredible backdrop to practice all of these principles fully.

Join us May 1-8, 2027 for daily gentle yoga, shared meals, day trips, wine tasting through the Tuscan countryside and more. Follow the link in our bio, or visit our website for more details. Newmoonyoga.studio/events 🇮🇹 taken in New Moon Yoga by @am_kida

One whole year as a studio owner. It’s hard to believe how quickly this year has moved.

Every time I reflect on this, my heart is sent in a different direction. The overarching theme is immense gratitude. And how could it not be?! The community that has grown here has been nothing short of a dream.

I have the unique opportunity to spend each day being reminded of what it means to show up to life with intention, purpose, and mindfulness. I may lead classes, but I am a student every single day. Learning how to show up more fully. Learning how to listen and be more present.

I am so grateful for each and every person who walks into our space, rolls out their mat, shows up, brings a friend, and/or has chosen this small space over anywhere else they could be spending their precious time. I don’t take a single one of you for granted.

I could not have imagined how, in this crazy world that we live in, this small space of ours could hold so much love and care. The way our community continues to show up for each other through joy, celebration, and grief inspires me beyond words.

I’ll be honest, it breaks my heart that year two won’t have the physical presence of my friends Stephen and Georgette. It still knocks the wind out of me to even say that out loud. But if this year has taught me anything, it is that showing up fully for each other, on the hard days AND the joyful ones, is what it’s all about. That’s what I’m carrying into this next year. More gathering. More circles. More showing up.

Thank you to our community. Thank you to the most beautiful and loving teachers and friends. May the journey ahead be gentle, and may we continue to show up for it, together. 🫶🏼 taken in New Moon Yoga by @am_kida

Today I wished I could wake up and discover that yesterday’s news of my dear friends’ tragic passing was only a dream.
I wanted to text them and tell them about it. How joyful we were on Sunday and to carry that joy into future conversations, yoga classes, dinners and more.

You meet a lot of people in this life. They all bring different qualities. Some challenge you. Some change you. Some people carry a magic with them, that makes you certain that crossing paths in this lifetime was no small coincidence.

Stephen and Georgette made life easy. I looked forward to every one of our interactions. From our deep conversations to our silly ones. From rooting for our sports teams, to getting dressed up for a fancy banquet. I valued their input and advice. I cherished their values and the way they held them so dear. They were good people. Good friends. They did good things. They made a difference in this world. They left an imprint. My life will forever be impacted by this not -so - chance meeting.

We need to love our people. We need to tell them. Show up for them. We need to look for the joy and share it. I once talked to Stephen about signs. He said, if we paid attention, we’d realize that they’re always there. I’m paying attention. And I will look for signs from you my dear friends. Until we meet again. 💔🙏🏼 by @am_kida

We live on this tiny rock, tucked into an infinite universe. And somehow, we get to experience all this magic.

Three weeks ago today our retreat started.

I had so many feelings leading up to it. Excitement, nervousness, anticipation, and fear. I planned it over a year in advance. But I’d been dreaming about it even longer.

Many people see challenge as an opportunity. The old me saw challenge as something to fear. Fear has always played a big role in my life.

What if it doesn’t work out the way I want it to?
What if it’s not what everyone else expected?
What if everything goes sideways?

Fear could be loud like that 🫣

And while doing something new for the first time still creates a hint of fear, fear itself doesn’t get the final say.

On the other side of fear, I’ve learned, is where life lives. Deborah Adele writes that courage isn’t the absence of fear, it’s the willingness to act anyway.

And oh my goodness, what becomes available when we act anyway?! This whole beautiful and wild life that we’ve been given. The friendships, the experiences, the conversations, the joy.

The whole experience was yet another reminder for me that life doesn’t only live within our familiar, comfortable and safe choices. Sometimes in lives just past that.

A reminder if there’s something tugging on your heart, even if it’s accompanied by a “but, what if” … fear might be the thing pointing you in the right direction. taken in San Casciano in Val di Pesa by @am_kida

Brahmacharya- practicing as non excess. Right use of energy.

This principle reminds us to stop giving ourselves away to everything that demands our attention, and rather, start choosing what receives our energy.

These views. The thoughtfully prepared meals on the table. Our friends sitting in front of us.

The ordinary things in life that becomes so much more beautiful when we fully show up for them. taken in San Casciano in Val di Pesa by @am_kida

Our pizza making workshop felt like a dream.

After days of connecting in so many ways, we made pizzas together and shared our creations while sipping wine under the Tuscan sunset.

The best memories 🍕 🍷
