Welcome to Remission!✨💕🥳💖🔔Cheers to Healing! 🥂🔔🥂 2.4.26 ✨🔔✨

Last week on February 4, 2026, exactly 18 months from the night I was admitted to the hospital, I am finally, beautifully, joyfully, gratefully in remission. 🎊🥹🎊😭🎊😂🎊🥳

9.4.24-2.4.26
What’s extra significant about the dates is that in terms of survivorship, with my specific and quite rare diagnosis, if there is no reoccurrence within 18 months of detection, it’s unlikely to resurface at all. In the frustration of 4 murky post-treatment PET scans and an insurance denial, God gave me blessed assurance in a 5th CAT scan that was 2.2.26– exactly a year from completing chemotherapy. In the words of my Homegirl, “And during Black History Month!” Look at God! Poetry through pain. Delayed but not denied.

My word of the year is Joy and I couldn’t feel more incandescently joyful if I tried. 🌟💡🌟 Here’s to being happy, healthy, healed, and whole but most importantly, here. Right where I belong. ❤️‍🩹🫶🏾🫀🩻

Fifteen years ago today, February 12, 2011, I experienced another extremely difficult health setback that required me to learn to walk again. Now, almost half my life later, I find myself in the same place— learning to walk again in a different way. As lonely as this road gets, I’m so glad I’ve never walked it alone. Thank you to everyone who walked beside me and carried when I couldn’t stand. I love you more than words can say and thank God for you every day. I pray for more joy in the journey ahead and that still being here means there’s so much more for me to be and do. But also, that me and my life are worth so much more than I ever knew, just as it is. 💖 I’m so deeply grateful. 🥹❤️‍🔥☺️💘

“Heal me, LORD, and I will be healed; save me and I will be saved, for you are the one I praise.” Jeremiah 17:14

🎶 Here’s a peek at my 2025 Tiny Desk Contest Entry. It’s a little taste of an unreleased superstar, my song “Would’ve Made Room for You.” I’ve been MIA for good (& personal) reason of late so while it may not be on the Wild Card EP, it should definitely tide those who’ve wanted more Ama Encore for the time being. It was in a collection of songs I wrote for the very first album I ever worked toward before I ever thought I’d be a musician. It’s a very special song to me and I’m glad to share it on the precipice nay the very eve of Valentine’s Day. For all those who’ve loved and lost and live to tell the tale or, as 777 puts it, “live to love again,” this song says that even closed doors can open your heart. It is a privilege to learn you can love fiercely and deeply and you should never be ashamed of that. Whether it’s pain or passion expanding your heart, always remember to make room for yourself in the loving process. It’s harder than you think. Check the Linktree in my bio to hear the full song. 🎵💋👏🏾♥️🎹🎷🎤🥁
