OPEN STUDIO | AMA House Autumn Art Residency 🍂

On Saturday, 3 October 2026, from 12 PM to 3 PM, AMA House opens its doors to
the public for an Open Studio with artist-in-residence Ruthi Helbitz Cohen
(@ruthi_helbitz_cohen ) ✨

During her residency in Athens, Ruthi Helbitz Cohen has been developing new work
and research that continues her exploration of femininity, gender, and the cultural
frameworks surrounding the representation of women.

For the Open Studio, she will share a selection of recent works and the research
developed during her time at AMA House, offering visitors an opportunity to
encounter her ongoing artistic process.

AMA House’s Autumn–Winter Programme is curated by Vicky Tsirou (@vicky_pistachio).

AMA House Autumn Art Residency 🍂

We are excited to welcome artist and professor Ruthi Helbitz Cohen (@ruthi_helbitz_cohen )to Athens for a two-week art residency at AMA House! ✨

Emphasizing engagement and exchange, AMA House fosters exhibition-making and artist residencies. As part of our Autumn programming, associated curator Vicky Tsirou (@vicky_pistachio )has invited Ruthi Helbitz Cohen for a tailor-made residency programme.
Ruthi’s multidisciplinary practice explores the female body, identity, mythology, and the emotional complexities of the human condition.
Through paintings, installations, sculptures, and works on paper, she creates haunting and poetic worlds where beauty and discomfort coexist—challenging perceptions of femininity, vulnerability, and power.
Through exposure to fear and doubt, the women Cohen portrays seek answers and, perhaps, refuge.
Her work has been exhibited internationally in museums and institutions across Europe, Asia, and the United States. 🌍

A landscape carries the weight of everything that passes through it.

In an era where images of destruction are relentlessly produced and consumed, “Subsurfaces” asks a quiet but urgent question: what happens when the visual is no longer enough? ⠀

Marking his first presentation in Athens, Venice Biennale representative Ivan Šuković turns our attention from the screen to the soil. Through fragments and sensory material, he explores how memory, territory, and history intersect, and how imagination steps in when lived reality becomes too heavy to inhabit.
