43 โ†’ 44 ๐Ÿš Landing on this side of a timeline jump - still in postpartum time, which is its own tense, everything present. 43 was a wild wormhole: a 9 yr folding into a 1. The Year of the ๐Ÿ and the snake kept her promise. Shedding isnโ€™t graceful. It catches on door handles / cities / back gardens (w nori) / old migratory routes/ ways of being you once believed wereโ™พ๏ธ. It leaves you tender in public. The word for this crossing = matrescence. A 2nd birth. No one builds you a ritual for becoming a mama + becoming someone else entirely. Self-ceremony: salt water, jungle, milk, sleeplessness, love. What once held you releases you. I was held by extraordinary friends, collaborators and loves (i miss you all so much) but most of all by the emergence of my little family-(endlessly in love and grateful for you both) โค๏ธ- 44 is not for bouncing back but binding together- heres to life that keeps arriving, one tender layer at a time. ๐Ÿš by @amalandaplan

Le Guinโ€™s work: the interdependence of separate yet interrelated forces that appear dualistic, but in fact form a harmonious whole. At Busan Biennale, ๐น๐‘’๐‘ ๐‘ก๐‘–๐‘ฃ๐‘Ž๐‘™ byย Ursula K. Le Guin & 5D (Sammy Lee, Mark Lowe and Sarah Shin) brings Le Guinโ€™s maps and drawings into a ritual scenography. Installed in the time between solar and lunar eclipses, ๐น๐‘’๐‘ ๐‘ก๐‘–๐‘ฃ๐‘Ž๐‘™ย is structured around balance, the light and the dark and dialogue. Two monumental towers stand around a central void, drawing from Le Guinโ€™s Taoist cosmology. One shows ๐ป๐‘œ๐‘ข๐‘ ๐‘’ ๐‘œ๐‘“ ๐‘‡๐‘–๐‘š๐‘’, a film by 5D weaving together the nested worlds of the everyday, a cosmogonic story and dreams. Time, in Le Guinโ€™s ๐ด๐‘™๐‘ค๐‘Ž๐‘ฆ๐‘  ๐ถ๐‘œ๐‘š๐‘–๐‘›๐‘” ๐ป๐‘œ๐‘š๐‘’, is described not as an arrow or a river, but as a house: โ€˜one may go from room to room, and come back; to go outside, all you have to do is open the door.โ€™ Within the festival void, the ๐‘Ž๐‘›๐‘๐‘Ž๐‘›๐‘”ย โ€“ the innermost room of a traditional Korean house โ€“ displays Le Guinโ€™s original maps, watercolours, books and talismanic maps engraved on stones. Park reimagines this obsolete infrastructure as a โ€œBlue Darkroom,โ€ transforming the former kitchen into an organism suspended between dormancy and life. Hoses extend from a central sculptural body into fragmented pendant-like forms, creating a circulatory network resembling both a nervous system and waterways. Water continuously flows through the structure, while pulsing light and a soundscape composed with ABOPF give the installation a rhythm of breath and heartbeat. The braided and constricted forms retain the tension of repeated physical gestures, connecting ideas of bodily strain, dependency and care. Drawing on pendere, the Latin verb meaning โ€œto hangโ€ and the root of โ€œdependence,โ€ the work explores the unstable boundaries between dependence and autonomy, protection and exposure, self and surroundings. by @amalandaplan
