Hot Dog Eating contest at the #carolinaclassicfair last night. I was stoked as the #coneyisland legend @joeychestnut was in attendance to root on the local participants. Doctor J held on to defeat the others by eating 14 and a half hot dogs in 6 min. taken in Carolina Classic Fair by @amancalledhurst

As a playwright, all you ever hope for is that an audience truly understands your words, that they stay on the journey with every scene, every silence, every revelation.

As a director, all you ask is that they trust your vision, and allow themselves to live every moment until the curtain falls and they leave forever changed.

I am deeply honored and humbled that every performance of SEARCHING FOR WILLIE LYNCH sold out before the International Black Theatre Festival even opened. That kind of support tells me something greater than ticket sales, it tells me you trust my work.
That is a gift I will never take for granted. 🙏🏾

To the hundreds who filled the theater, and to the hundreds more who waited outside, hoping for a ticket but never made it inside THANK YOU!!! Your belief, your excitement, and your unwavering support mean more than words can express.

For the thousands of you who have continued to show up for my work over the years across the country, please know this: you are the reason I keep writing. You inspire me to keep telling the stories that challenge us, heal us, confront us, and remind us who we are.

I’m already pouring my heart into what I believe is my most challenging, emotional, gut wrenching, and powerful play to date, which will make its world premiere this November. This one is for the forgotten.

To the @intlblacktheatrefestival and @ncblackrep , thank you for creating a home where stories like these can live.

To my extraordinary cast and crew: thank you for your talent, your sacrifice, your commitment, and for trusting me with your hearts. You breathed life into these words and made them soar in ways I could only imagine.

And to everyone who walked this journey with us, thank you for your trust, your love, your tears, your standing ovations, and your belief. Every applause, every embrace after each performance, every conversation reminds us why we do this.
Until 2028... With all my heart …THANK YOU!!
