From shaping and stacking to carving and surface decoration, students in our Clay Totems class, guided by instructor Warren Moyer, explored a variety of ceramic handbuilding techniques while creating unique clay sculptures. Designed for gardens, patios, and indoor spaces, each handmade clay totem reflected the creativity and imagination of its maker, proving that no two ceramic artworks are ever alike.

It’s no secret that I’m a big fan of my students. What makes it even better is that they’re big fans of each other as well! Some come to class already friends, and some friendships develop as we make things together - beautiful things, fun things, even mistakes sometimes, lol! And I absolutely love watching them hype each other up over their successes, like this beautiful bracelet by @marionkilloran .

I’ve got several more classes coming up this session at @sawtoothschool - check them out at the link in their bio!

Students from Early College of Forsyth are getting hands-on at Sawtooth! 🪚🪵

Through a new partnership led by Early College teacher and Sawtooth instructor Ted Barton, six students are spending three months learning woodworking skills, completing projects, and exploring a creative outlet they don’t typically have access to during the school day.

“I like being able to get hands on and make something that’s all my own,” said Early College Senior Jenrette Bass.

And for some students, the experience has helped uncover talents they didn’t know they had.

“I’m not really the best at a lot of things in school, but I’m good at this,” said Early College Junior Arianna Santos. “I’m good at it, and that really makes me happy.” ❤️

We love seeing students build new skills, discover new interests, and walk away with something they created themselves.
