Just a Canadian girl who loves vintage, dogs and Blue Jays baseball

We very quickly went from coffee in the backyard to getting cozy inside. I know for some of you this is going to be hard to hear, but I’ve never loved fall. But since it’s the gateway to winter, I endure it (also because it is unavoidable). So until the snow starts falling I’ll be just over here biding my time…

One last weekend before I succumb to the fact that summer is really over…
And that’s sweet little Ollie who’s our houseguest for a few days. He loves running the planks 😂🧡

By today’s standards our back entry is tiny…but what it lacks in space it makes up for in charm! I mean, just look at that built-in chair that folds out of the wall — seriously the coolest.

My new WFH nook for my new WFH job! Was waiting for the perfect desk to pop up at the thrift or on FBMP…patience is a virtue that paid off! This $50 vintage desk and the $9 Acme Chrome Furniture chair got me all kinds of happy (I especially love the branding on the bottom of the chair). Hope you’re as excited about your week as I am! 💛💛💛

Things have been on the quiet side around these parts lately. I’ve been dealing with some health stuff that’s ripped the ever-loving energy right out of me. I’m switching jobs very soon and hoping that will help give my body a chance to reset while I sort it out. But some things never change — Coco still prefers to not be on camera and I still insist on cuddling her more than she’d prefer 😂

I absolutely unimpressed with how quickly the summer is passing by. I haven’t had nearly enough time to do all the summertime things I wanted to do. I have, however, still done a bit of thrifting…these 3 items are a few of the highlights (each $4.99 or less)!

And this cheeky tourist Vegas ashtray to add to my collection.
I hope you’re savouring all the summer moments and thrift stores you can!

Ahhh the 1960s — what a time for house design! These 4 midcentury beauties were all built in 1962-1964 with classic MCM features like slanted rooflines, clerestory windows, carports and breezeways. The brick one in the first pic sold recently and was in amazing-mostly-original condition and WOW 🧡 I really wish new home builders would get back to adding character and interest and design elements, instead of basic square boxes.
Which house is your favourite?

When FBMP really comes through in your search for the perfect vintage kitchen stool! I’ve been wanting one for a while and when I saw this one for $25 and the colour I only dreamed I’d find, I jumped on it. Now I can sit by the window and smoke fake cigs 🤩

In case you hadn’t heard, I LOVE my 1940s bungalow 🧡 It’s sweet and small and perfect in so many ways, except the laminate flooring the previous owners chose. We’re redoing what we can with classic checkered VCT and the front entry was our most recent project (tiny as it is). Anyhow we love the look and were more than happy to get rid of a little more of the cringey reddish laminate! Up next: the kitchen!

Shout out to my Dad - the most helpful guy you’ll probably ever meet - who lent his hand many times when we re-did our backyard a few summers ago! Happy Father’s Day! We rarely take photos together, maybe I’ll have to dig through my Mom’s old photo albums and find a real beauty from the 1970s to share😜 by @amandasheldonsk

One of these photos is not like the others…Coco posing in multiple spots in the living room, except on or by the Eames rocker — that is way too scary. This Eames chair was used in the 1960/70s at the University of Saskatchewan and has the best wear on the fibreglass shell. The rocker base was added more recently by a local collector and preserver.

I’ve barely been thrifting lately (gasp!) but I’ve found a few treasures, including this super sweet lamp ($12), the cutest candy dish in emerald green ($4), and a set of four glasses with gold flamingos ($5 and not vintage)! Not bad for a very teenie tiny thrifting haul!
Do you also suffer with having to tell everyone the prices you paid for thrifted items? I can’t help myself haha
