Amara Abbas directs ‘DEAR [NAME]’.

While waiting for an interview, the language from corporate rejection letters comes alive in a job applicant’s mouth, turning the moment into what feels more like an invisible email exchange between him and the system that keeps rejecting him.

DEAR [NAME] is a very special film created in collaboration with People Like Us who are shining a light on hiring bias in the UK, particularly against ethnic minorities, exposing how automated screening is now deepening the problem. Names are intrinsically tied to who we are and where we’re from and no one should have to hide theirs to get a fair shot. A big thank you to my friend, the brilliant poet Yasmin Ali, for helping write these powerful words, and to Ebenezer Gyau for bringing such raw emotion to this piece. You are one of one. People Like Us and Worth Your While thank you for the trust ❤️

Very proud of this one. Please watch it and turn the volume up

Lots of love and appreciation to our talented crew who put their hearts into this film 🙏🏼

Amara Abbas directs ‘Impulse’.

A meditation on faith and memory, capturing the quiet intimacy of spiritual devotion filmed in Pakistan. Rather than defining faith, the film evokes its essence, a surrender to something greater.

IMPULSE (جذبہ) is a journey of the soul moving through time and space. A surrender to something greater, invisible and infinite. Now out on @dazedmiddleeast ❤️ really special experience to film this in Lahore (and in my mother’s childhood home), and to witness all the beauty Pakistan has to offer. Big thank you to the DAZED team and @iconoclast.tv and our incredible crew
