THE PRESENCE CROSS —

The Presence Cross

THE PRESENCE CROSS

Originally designed as part of the restoration of Seub Samphanthawong Church, The Presence Cross has now been transformed into a wearable piece — a way to carry its meaning close to us while also becoming part of the church’s continuing restoration.

This is my first jewelry design, created in collaboration with Baew, Supanee Settajindalert of MES CHERIES Diamond, translating The Presence Cross from architecture into a small sculpture for everyday life.

The design began with a simple idea: not to see the cross merely as the wooden structure upon which Jesus was crucified, but to place Christ Himself at its center.

The curved vertical line suggests His body bending forward, while the outstretched arms evoke not only the crucifixion, but also an image of embrace and invitation.

“And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself.”
John 12:32

The Presence Cross is therefore not simply an image of the cross, but an image of Christ with open arms, drawing all people to Himself.✝️ taken in คริสตจักรสืบสัมพันธ์วงศ์ by @amata_luphaiboon

In our ‘Soulscape Issue’ QoQoon sat down with Amata Luphaiboon—one of Thailand’s most distinguished designers—to speak not of aesthetics or philosophy, but of the calling that redirected his practice: incorporating faith and belief into architecture.
This journey has brought Amata profound fulfillment. Speaking of his path with genuine warmth, his passion created an emotional resonance that ultimately moved both interviewer and subject to tears, bridging differences in personal faith through a shared moment of connection.
