Viewpoint ⬆️ • In our ‘Soulscape Issue’ QoQoon sat down with Amata Luphaiboon—one of Thailand’s most distinguished designers—to speak not of aesthetics or philosophy, but of the calling that redirected his practice: incorporating faith and belief into architecture. This journey has brought Amata profound fulfillment. Speaking of his path with genuine warmth, his passion created an emotional resonance that ultimately moved both interviewer and subject to tears, bridging differences in personal faith through a shared moment of connection. • Read full interview about his calling and the master works like @churchofjoythailand and others in https://qoqoon.media/viewpoint/amata-luphaiboon-by-divine-design/ or clicking the link in bio⬆️ Interviewed by @justwhisky Photos: Courtesy of Department of Architecture Co. #qoqoonmedia #architecture #design #spiritualdesign #church

What if a shopping mall didn't need air conditioning to stay cool? In San Juan, Metro Manila, The Corner House is rethinking what a commercial building can be. Instead of sealing itself off behind glass and AC, it opens up to the city with a responsive façade of operable aluminum louvres and motorized blinds that adjust to sun, wind, and rain in real time. The payoff: over half the building relies on cross-ventilation and ceiling fans instead of mechanical cooling, while preserved trees and planted rooftop berms help insulate the spaces below. At its centre is a 500-metre ramp spiralling around a four-storey open-air atrium — part jogging track, part public promenade, part elevated street, keeping visitors connected to daylight, fresh air, and the city outside at every turn. The building has outgrown its retail brief entirely. On weekdays it hosts remote workers and community workshops; on weekends it becomes a vertical flea market of food vendors, craftspeople, and designers, with festivals and events treated as genuine revenue drivers rather than side attractions. The concept is already turning heads: a Jury Winner title at the 2026 Architizer A+Awards (Retail), the 2025 Archello Award for Shopping Mall of the Year, and a Gold Award at the DFA Design for Asia Awards 2025. JUNG Architecture Talk KL _ Purpose Beyond Architecture A heartfelt thank you to all our speakers—not just for your insights, but for the honesty and generosity in the way you shared your journeys. What stayed with me most was this: architecture today is no longer just about form, but about creating belonging, expressing culture, and shaping human connection. I’m truly grateful to JUNG for the trust and respect in allowing me to be part of this dialogue—as both advisor and moderator. It was a privilege to hold this space and learn alongside such thoughtful voices. A meaningful evening, and one I’ll carry with me.

Amata Luphaiboon (DofA, 방콕)은 The Commons로 잘 알려진 건축가다. Learning time. Special thanks to @jungkorea_live @yunilee0 @gabi__ya #JUNGArchitectureTalks #KualaLumpur2026 #건축 PurposeBeyondArchitecture
