I’ve been thinking about age a LOT lately.

Maybe it’s the road to pregnancy. Maybe it’s being 37 and realizing there are still SO many things I want to do, build, experience and become.

And every once in a while, that little thought creeps in...

Am I too late? Am I too old?

But honestly and truthfully, both are a lie.

Who decided we’re supposed to have everything figured out by a certain age?

I can have babies at 37 (god willing). I can build a completely different business (if wanted). I can learn new things, travel somewhere new, change my mind, shuffle downtown, start over, reinvent myself... whatever.

I really believe you can **do, be and have anything you desire at any age.**

Maybe we’re not behind.

Exciting announcement 📣 🎉

I’ve officially become a full time mortgage broker! 🏠 💼

As a finance major, I was required to take investing classes which is where I first heard the concept of investing in real estate and building wealth through property ownership... and something just CLICKED.

Since then, I’ve been committed to my journey towards financial freedom. While my journey will differ from other’s, I’m proud to say that I’ve reached a point of what I like to call “financial security” thanks to strategic investments in rental properties.

I share all of that to say, last year I got my mortgage license and decided to leave my W2 to pursue a bigger calling: help others create financial freedom through real estate. 🤝 💰

I am now a mortgage broker specializing in working with investors.

Whether you’re looking to purchase your first investment property or expand your portfolio, there are MANY loan products available and I’m here to help.

Amber and I sat at this table with great friends on the other side until every plate was empty and the wine bottle was dry, no laptop, no phone buzzing with the next deal.

I spend most of my week chasing opportunities, pipelines, the next conversation that could change something. Taking time to be present with loved ones for dinner reminded me why I'm actually building any of it. It's about your community, chosen family and people you get to create and experience life with. The businesses and the income mean nothing if I can't create extraordinary moments for those I love most. I even had a surprise guitarist/singer (@dariosallent ) sing to our table which really enhanced our experience.

Most couples automatically assume they should buy their first home together, understandably so.

But depending on the loan program, income and overall strategy, that may not always be the smartest move.

One person may be able to buy first, they both live in the home, build equity, then potentially convert it to a rental later while the other still has options for the next purchase.

That can mean going from 1 primary home to 2 properties working for you instead of stopping at one.

This is the exact strategy my husband and I used to build our rental portfolio.

The key is to look at the strategy before you both apply together.

Marriage will humble you 😂 and always a work in progress…

Turns out loving each other is the easy part. Learning how to communicate, understand each other, take accountability, unpack your own shit, and grow together? That’s the WORK.

Quick trip to Detroit for @gorascal x @uwmlending ✈️

Got to spend a few days connecting with some ELITE LOs on our team, learning what’s working in their businesses, and hearing from @matishbia on where he sees the market headed.

One of my favorite things about being at GoRascal is being surrounded by people who genuinely share what’s working and want to help each other win. We’re licensed in all 50 states, but it still feels like a team, very value + contribution driven, which I love. Huge thanks to the incredible leadership team.

Biggest takeaway from Mat: control the controllables. Get your mindset right, do the work, and don’t build your business around trying to predict rates. His take is that rates are more likely to stay around where they are or eventually come down than meaningfully move higher.

And obviously I had to try Detroit style pizza while I was there 🍕😂

Let’s keep it REAL - I’ve had 2 deals cancel recently.

One we were almost two months into. My team had put a LOT of work into the deal, but an issue came up with the property and ultimately the buyer decided to walk.

The other was a really cool house hack opportunity. The buyer planned to live in the main unit, renovate the garage unit and rent it out. Unfortunately, once they got further into it, the renovation costs were significantly higher than expected and the numbers just didn’t make sense anymore.

Does it suck when a deal cancels after weeks of work? 1000%

But at the end of the day, my job isn’t to get every deal to the closing table. It’s to help my clients make smart financial decisions and sometimes walking away IS the right decision for them.

Real estate has definitely felt different lately. I’ve personally seen more cancellations, more hesitation and an overall slower market.
