our paths colliding was a blessing. if you’ve had the chance to meet her, you’d know she’s the most incredibly loyal, hilarious, sweetest, most disciplined person - the perfect complement to my chaotic melodrama, my delulu but determined little self. my emotions feel tempered and my body feels safe around her. two years and two lifetimes and two timelines in the future, i’d choose you every single time. thank you for calling me mine, thank you for embracing me as yours.

i’m still twenty something, but i was literally 19 waiting to turn 20 when this song by sza was released.

years ago, i wrote in my journal that i hope to be in a place where i feel safe, at home, and free to be my authentic self. i had only a few goals, one of them being to have a dog by 25. did that (@itszukimonsta)! another was to have a place to call my own, plus side if it’s with me & mine (we did it!! @tenb) . another was hoping i still found time to write poetry. today, i did that!!! (tbh it happens once a year maybe… but my pen still finds paper when it needs to). a silly goal was to bake & decorate a strawberry cake from scratch and on my 28th birthday ive done it! 🎂

there’s so much to be said about the entirety of my 20s so far, but in the end the only one who made it complicated was me lol. i think i’ve finally found a little island of peace. today was so simple, but i feel so loved and so blessed. thank you for all the well wishes ♥️

note: the chocolate cake w strawberry filling was 7/10 but the strawberry cream cheese frosting was 11/10 😌 taken in Downtown Los Angeles by @ambsunfleur

🌈 queer joy truly is resistance. here’s some snippets of me being gay! see you at SD pride! 🌈

it’s an unreal feeling to feel happy, to feel free, to feel accepted, to feel respected, and to feel safe all at the same time. All the queer events we are allowed to take up space in are sacred bc we’re not only //allowed// to be ourselves, but encouraged to be!! it’s liberating to have no fears kissing my partner in public, it’s liberating to look around and see everybody being who they truly are without fear too.

it’s hard to explain, but i don’t feel safe or comfortable being myself in most spaces. i’m very lucky and privileged to have community and live in a progressive state. but even here, there’s persecution and harassment on all sides. i tone down my identity to better fit within public spaces, and maybe that’s a me problem. i don’t even experience the worst of it—i’m a cisgender woman with conventional features. but even as a woman, i’m already fearful of being targeted, being followed, or being alone at night when i simply walk my dog or go to the gym. add being a lesbian and it just adds to those insecurities, the harassment, and the targeting just because i’m in a certain demographic. and i’m Asian, which is a whole other conversation lol. i can’t imagine not being born in a country where my identity is a crime, and so i want to emphasize still how incredibly lucky i feel.

i’d like to continue protecting this freedom, continue protecting this feeling. i’d like it to exist in all spaces one day. but for now, we continue to fight for the opportunity to have pride in who we are, for those that haven’t had the opportunity yet, and for those we’ve lost on the way. protect your local lesbian, gay, bi, trans, nonbinary, intersex, ace, queer, and/or questioning youth. it’s more important than you know! the opposite of progression is regression and right now these freedoms are at risk. so… queer joy truly is resistance. thanks and happy pride ◡̈ taken in San Francisco Pride by @ambsunfleur
