zuko moved to a new city and had an exciting 3rd birthday 🎉, though he is still the softest, sweetest, smiliest boy. figured an update to zuki’s little life would be nice 🥰 .

My family fled a war. They know the sound of violence and the pain of leaving home. They became refugees seeking safety from a state that had failed them.

Today, in Los Angeles, the city I call home, that same fear is being inflicted by the system. ICE is on our streets, and families are being targeted.

This is not a separate struggle. The same system that deports Southeast Asian refugees is the one terrorizing our Black and Hispanic communities.

To my Vietnamese community: Our history calls us to this moment. We who understand the trauma of displacement have a duty to stand up. Silence is a choice, and it’s the wrong one. We must be the allies we needed then. We must stand with our POC family now. The fight for their dignity is our fight. We have to be on the right side of history.

west coast diaries // fell in love with san diego 💌✨

• sunburnt + happy 🌞
• learning to prioritize myself and enjoy my own company
• what’s a trip to SD without a visit to @balboapark 🌴
• effortless friendships over anything else 💛
• 🍓 + 🥭 mochis and matching friendship rings purchased from the local farmer’s market 🫶🏼
• in another life, I’m a dog mom living in a quaint suburban neighborhood in SD 💭 less hustle & bustle and more slow living 🍃
• not pictured — Torrey Pines holds a special place in my heart ⛰️ got lost solo hiking there for 2 hrs, but the feeling of accomplishment after reaching the end of the beach trail made it all worth it. ❣️
• spent my last day enjoying incredible poke while watching the sunset on the beach. truly could not have asked for anything more 💘
