One of my favourite places we visited in Barcelona was the Palau de la Música Catalana.

It was actually funded by the people of Barcelona as a home for Catalan music and culture. And I think that’s what makes it even more interesting. It wasn’t just about building another concert hall, it was about preserving a cultural identity. I mean look at those sculptures and the art work on the glass.

The architecture is ridiculous. Everywhere you look there’s something else to take in. Sculptures of Beethoven, Wagner, musical muses, mosaics, stained glass. It’s almost too much, but somehow it all works.

It’s now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and deservedly so.

Definitely one of those places where you spend more time staring at the walls and ceilings than anything else. by @amirashohdi
