POSTS STORIES REELS

Amy’s race results are incredible, but one of the things I love most about her story is how much she’s learned about herself along the way. She truly is a student of the sport.

When we started working together, she didn’t know much about fueling. She remembers bonking on her first group ride with just one bottle of water. Now she pays close attention to her fueling and hydration and knows how to prepare for the demands of training and racing. She’s got it down to a science.

She’s also learned how to use effort to pace herself: when to push, when to back off and when her body needs more rest. That awareness has taken time to develop, and it’s something we continue to pay attention to as her training and recovery needs change.

And then there are the experiences along the way. Amy has taken on challenges she once might not have imagined, from the Escape from Alcatraz triathlon to climbing in the French Alps on her tri bike. I will say after 8 years of working together, she’s game for pretty much any kind of challenge.

She’s also found friendships and a community through the sport. As she put it, she’s found her people. ❤️ I consider myself lucky to be a part of that group. If it wasn’t for this sport, we may not ever have met, even though we live in the same neighborhood!

Amy, thank you for trusting me with your training and for sharing your story. I can’t wait to see what you take on next. by @amy_tris68

Ironman Nice 70.3 World Championship Race Report: swipe each pic to read entire report…I qualified for this race at Musselman 70.3 last year. My coach @coach.p.k told me that if I qualified for 70.3 world champs, she would come with me. HELL YES! We had a year to prepare for this. And once again, I had another injury-free year of Ironman training, at age 57, no doubt due to my customized and carefully periodized training plan, crafted by Coach tailored to me. Worth every penny! We arrived in Nice 5 days before race day to acclimate both to the hot temps and time change….and also as a buffer if pre-race shit went sideways, and boy did it ever! During descent practice with @triangelahaha_ , my rear wheel bearings blew and deemed unrideable by the on-site mechanics. WTFFFF! No bike shops carried the parts. All bike rentals sold out. All rear wheel rentals sold out. Cue PANIC mode. Coincidentally I run into my swim coach from 2019 Florida camp. She’s injured and offered me her road bike to use! Then I find out my dear friend @charlotte.e.berry booked a last min flight to spectate and she can bring my rear disc race wheel with her! My wonderful hubby @himarkus hightailed the wheel to @jp_at_brownssports where he and Morgane packed it up for travel and then Mark delivered wheel to Charlotte. Charlotte arrived with the wheel a mere couple hours before bike check-in closed. Oh the STRESS!!! Charlotte literally saved my race! Coach said you need a back-up plan to a back-up plan. I now had both. F-in lucky 🍀 Thank you from the bottom of my heart Charlotte you are one in a million kind of friend 💕 ➡️ swipe on the pic

The 1.9km swim: I did a timed swim event a couple days before race day to practice the full swim course. I highly recommend this. I panicked a bit during the practice swim, however, on race day, not a shred of panic. The Mediterranean Sea is a deep aqua-marine blue, warm and buoyant. You could see lil fishies 🐟 as you headed out to the first buoy. Too warm for wetsuit, which I anticipated and thus had trained in my swim skin, which I love. Unfortunately my swim time was much slower than usual, due to making too wide a turn at one of the turn buoys and add by @amy_tris68

Today was my last day of racecation. @coach.p.k and I took the train to Eze (at the reco of @fliss08 ) a seaside medieval village situated high on a cliff on the French Riviera. It was first populated around 200BC. The views were absolutely stunning 😍. Lots of different variety of cacti. Had lunch with the most delicious pistachio flan. It was pretty hot in the sun but were treated to cool breezes. Ran into @prcheryl while there! Home tomorrow. by @amy_tris68

It’s a MEGA Medal Monday! The Crew ladies have been keeping busy these last couple of weeks 💃🏻.

Angela @angela.cowan.7 raced 5 Peaks Albion Hills on Sept 5 and came away with what I would call a PB, even though the course was longer than the last time she did it, she ran at a faster pace even with the additional distance AND elevation. Everything about her running has improved in the last year, she has become more aerobically efficient and her cadence has improved. She wasn’t even sure she was going to do this race because she had been having some knee issues. But, race day she felt good and her knee was totally fine!

This past Saturday Amy took on her first 70.3 World Championship in Nice, France. She had an incredibly stressful few days leading up to the race - nothing like finding out your wheel bearings are fucked AFTER you’ve gone down a descent. BUT, the stars aligned and with the help of a team in Toronto and a last minute trip from @charlotte.e.berry with a back up wheel, she made it to the start line. She made it up and down the Col Du Vence and you couldn’t wipe the smile off her face. It was a day she will always remember - and I was lucky enough to be there to watch it unfold.

Jodi @jodibonham ran the High River Half as a lead up to the NYC Marathon. She had a fantastic day coming away with an almost 9 minute PB and second place in her AG. I can’t wait to see what she does in NYC

Congrats ladies!!! by @amy_tris68

WHAT A CRAZY DAY!! Did swim event this morning. Fab opportunity to swim the entire course with safety support. It’s my first ocean swim in a race. So glad I did it I will be way less anxious swimming 2km in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea. Went to athlete check-in and collected my race packet and race swag. Met up with pro triathlete @tamarajewett to deliver a back-up bike part. Then @triangelahaha_ and I Ubered to the top of the mountain to practice the descent; described in the athlete guide as “very dangerous”. It was quite fun and stopped many times for pics as it’s STUNNING! By far the most beautiful bike course I have ever had the privilege of riding. However we got caught in a downpour and things got a bit scary. We missed the turn onto the bike path and ended up on the freaking HIGHWAY! Scary AF with transport trucks blasting by! We scaled a wall to get back on bike path 🤣. That’s when I noticed my bike making rattling noise that got worse as I continued. Rode over to the expo where mechanic delivered devastating news: my wheel bearings in my rear hub were SHOT and I cannot ride on that wheel for the race! Called a couple bike shops and no one carries the parts. No bike rentals left or wheels. Frantic and panicked I then get a text from @coach.p.k that my friend @charlotte.e.berry decided to book a last minute flight to spectate!! Great!! Can she bring my disc wheel with her? Yes she can!! My amazing husband dropped everything and hightailed my spare wheel to @jp_at_brownssports where he and Morgane packed it up for travel and Markus delivered wheel to Charlotte to bring to Nice on Friday. Bike-check in is Friday at 6pm. Charlotte lands at 2pm 😬. I needed a back-up plan in case Charlotte’s flight is delayed and I can’t get wheel in time. I miraculously bump into my swim coach from Florida camp a few years ago @sara7411 who graciously offers up her road bike for me to race with as a last minute back-up. Just wow! Blown away how the stars lined up and EVERYONE came to my rescue! Freaking CRAZY!! by @amy_tris68

58 today! 🎉❤️ Feeling incredibly grateful for this life, the people who make it so special, and the opportunity to celebrate my birthday here in beautiful Nice, France 🇫🇷.
To be here with two dear friends and getting ready to race the Ironman 70.3 World Championships this Saturday is pretty amazing. Feeling grateful, happy, and very lucky. Here’s to 58 and whatever adventures come next! 🥂🏊‍♀️🚴‍♀️🏃‍♀️✨ @coach.p.k @triangelahaha_ by @amy_tris68

Arrived in beautiful Nice yesterday with @coach.p.k . It’s hot here and stunning! The promenade is super wide and lots of room to ride and run. We walked 6km waiting for our airbnb to be ready. Had to lug bike bag up several flights of stairs as elevator is pretty tiny. Put bike back together and prayed derailleur put on correctly 🙏 Grabbed some groceries and in bed by 8. After a great sleep headed out for shake-out ride with @triangelahaha_ . Ran into @that.triathlonlife Paula and Eric what a great birthday surprise! Also saw @tamarajewett doing blistering speedy strides. Matcha and treats at @cphcoffeelab . Now off the the expo! #ironman703worldchampionship by @amy_tris68

Congrats on the new wheels Lauren! #newkicks by @amy_tris68

Last day! Travelled from Dublin to Belfast, Northern Ireland, UK 🇬🇧 Opted to skip Game of Thrones museum and take in the Giants Causeway hike at the suggestion of @fliss08 and WOW so glad we did! Breathtaking views from the top of the cliffs along the Red Trail Hike. Also pit-stopped at The Dark Hedges Estate to check out the spellbinding, gnarly birch tree-lined Bregagh Rd, which served as the scene from GOT after Arya escapes Kings Landing dressed as a boy with Yoren, Gendry and Hot Pie. The Irish are such a kind and friendly people. They sure love their pubs! by @amy_tris68

Exploring Dublin. National Art gallery, shopping on Grafton St, St. Stephen Green Park, tried Guinness beer even though none of us like beer 🍺. Locals say weather here is uncharacteristically warm and sunny ☀️ by @amy_tris68

Cliffs of Moher both from the boat tour and from above. Fascinating! Explored a bit of Galway. Ended up at Urgent Care to get antibiotics for Ava as she has bronchitis. Hope she gets relief soon poor girl her coughing has been relentless and feeling worse by the day. We cut things short today so she can rest. Off to Dublin and Belfast tomorrow for our final two days of our trip. Oíche mhaith! by @amy_tris68
