Last night we did our last Beauty and the Beast performance!💃🕺🎉

I think it was our best performance yet! We will still be dancing but just not this one anymore.

Thank you to our amazing instructors Artem and Polina and everyone at the FADS Goodyear team for always cheering us on and teaching us so many new things!

Day 3 retreat part 2

Weaving workshop
The weaving done in Peru is so amazing and it was extra special to have them explain the whole process of using the Alpaca wool to create beautiful yarn with natural ingredients for colors. They start as young girls, weaving bracelets and move up to large items over time and practice until they can weave blankets. Very time consuming and a labor of love. The patterns are created in their minds and colors are chosen based on their feelings. They sing while they work.

Sid tried spinning the yarn and danced🕺and then we all shopped for some authentic Alpaca made goods.

Day 3 retreat part 1

The Chinchero Archaeological Center is a Inca site in Peru's Sacred Valley, featuring extensive agricultural terraces, stone walls, temples, and residential foundations, built by Inca Túpac Yupanqui as a royal estate.

Retreat day 2:
We helped plant trees at a San Isidro Labrador Sillacancha Arin School in the sacred valley of Peru. We participated in a ceremony before and after planting, using corn and flowers as an offering and honoring the Apus that surround the valley.

30% of what we paid for our retreat goes back to this local school community. The students who go here often have several hour trips by bus or walking just to get to school. When they have a break from school they go home to work and help their families. It is a reminder of everything I am grateful and thankful for in my life.

We had so many amazing experiences in Peru and enjoyed every moment.

Day 1 retreat:
After settling in, we participated in a despacho ceremony, which is a sacred Andean ritual practice (Incan) used to express gratitude, ask for healing, mark life transitions, or restore harmony.

In the Andean worldview, healing begins with ayni — the principle of sacred reciprocity. A despacho is a living prayer and an offering created with gratitude, humility, and care, given back to the Earth (Pachamama) and the unseen forces that sustain life.

Apu is a Quechua word meaning "Lord." The Incas used it to name the mountains and snow-capped peaks of great importance. The Apus are protective spirits that watch over the people in their territory, their livestock, and their crops.

The Apus are the spirits invoked and honored in the despacho ceremony — which is why gratitude offerings to them are so central to Andean spiritual life.

Watching Benito create our offering and give it back to the earth in the fire was a once in a lifetime experience.
