In my studio at Ballinglen Art Foundation in Ireland. Exceptional light, high ceilings, quiet, looking out over Main Street - so happy here.
These pieces are all painted over large blueprints of my house in Colorado. Experimenting with patterns, and repetition and gesture but not really relating to the original floor plan. Hope to explore more underlying architectural elements in future but It felt good to work large. Many thanks to Una Forde, the director of Ballinglen and her amazing staff during my residency here. The other artists-in- residence here were incredibly inspiring - Carol Robertson, Trevor Sutton, Randall Graham, Roger Kite, Jeffrey Hirst, Jean Campbell and Breda Burns -thank you! @ballinglen_arts_foundation #ballinglenfellow #williamhavugallery #paintingsonpaper #studio #contemporary_art by @amymetier

TrevorSutton, resident artist at Ballinglen, in his studio. Trevor’s studio was directly across the hall from mine and he created a prodigious number of paintings during his stay. I was truly inspired by Trevor’s careful, remarkable combinations of color and shape - small investigations for large paintings to come. Beautiful paintings, lovely man with great sense of humor. @ballinglen_arts_foundation #ballinglenartsfoundation #trevorsutton #colorstudies #contemporaryart #artstudio by @amymetier

I am currently painting and teaching at the Ballinglen Art Foundation in Ballycastle, Ireland. Besides the amazing opportunity to reside in a wildly beautiful and very rural part of Ireland, I get to meet and spend time with inspiring artists from the U.K., Australia and the US among other places. This stunning piece is by English artist and wonderful friend, Carol Robertson. Check out more of her work on Instagram! @carolrobertson.artist @ballinglen_arts_foundation #carolrobertson.artist #ballinglenartsfoundation #minimalpainting #abstractart_daily #contemporaryartwork by @amymetier

Am living a mile from the sea. There are many seasoned boats around here - weathered, beautiful, with stories and great, curving lines and bones. I am starting to include parts of them in my drawings. ballinglen_arts_foundation #ballinglenartsfoundation #mayonorth #williamhavugallery #abstractdrawing #abstractpainting by @amymetier

Recent painting on panel abstracted from the formal gardens of Villandry in France. Always drawn to the collaborations of humans and nature especially when geometry is involved. Have been working on this series for a number of years. Currently in the show at the William Havu Gallery. @williamhavugallery @amymetier #williamhavugallery #contemporaryartcollector #contemporaryartist #villandrygarden #abstractfigurativepainting by @amymetier

Finally finished. Diptych with two panels, 72” x 98”. Originally based on a composition by Gota of a print by Goya from “The Disasters of War” series. I expanded upon the colors and movement but tried to keep the intensity.
