I WROTE A BOOK!!😁

This semester, in my Creative Writing 2 class I wrote a book of poems and was urged by my teacher, Mr. Barnes, to publish my work as an E-book on Amazon and become a published author😃 (Thank you Mr. Barnes!!) I did that and it is available on Amazon for $2 if anyone wants to purchase and read! This is only volume 1, and I hope to publish more volumes in the future with more poems about more people I love, but this is where I’ve started for now:)

The inspiration: When thinking about what I wanted all of my poems to be centered around, I wasn’t sure at first. But when thinking about it more, I remembered something my good friend @_laurenstoffel shared with me last summer. She said “Whenever I get mad or upset with people, Amy, I always think about what you said to me last summer, ‘I just love people!’ “ We had been driving back from watching the fireworks on 4th of July and I was filled with so much joy, love, and gratitude in that moment, that’s all I could think to say. When Lauren said that to me last summer I was so shocked because I had no idea that had stuck with her, and to be honest I didn’t remember that moment very well until she had shared it with me. When thinking of that powerful memory, I realized this world could use so much more love. So I decided this had to be the theme of my book in hopes of spreading love and maybe helping just one person out there❤️ Writing this book definitely made me think more about love and all the people in my life (strangers, family, friends, etc) that I love dearly. So thank you Lauren, for reminding me of that😘

The cover: The cover is all original artwork of 4 year old Amy😂 That is how I would draw people when I was younger, so it only seemed right for it to be the cover of my book. Thank you to my mom who helped me find these drawings from so many years ago!

I hope some of you can relate to a few of these poems, as they are all drawn from my personal experience❤️

I got the honor of being in @liettagranato photography class this summer, and we got the incredible opportunity to photograph professional flamenco dancer @elisaanzellotti 💃 Her strength and precision in each dance she did was marvelous. So lucky to have been able to witness and capture the beauty of her dance🪭
Forever in awe

Travel Photography

Here are the top 15 photos I took from my final portfolio during my study abroad trip in Viterbo, Italy this past May/June. My portfolio was exploring wildlife and pets around Viterbo🛵 and in Northern Italy🏔️ Enjoy some cool shots I got, and lots of fun learning how to use my camera settings📸

One of my favs from Ceramics last semester🦦

Fun little river otter holding a heart rock♥️ with pinecones, ferns, and blueberries floating around🌲🌱🫐 the plate is also being grasped by some bear claws🐻

This piece took a lot of work, but in the end happy with how it turned out. It’s very cute, I do wish it turned out more „realistic“ and honored the artist we were studying „Bernald Palissy“ more like the assignment urged, but that’s something I can do better next time! I also had to problem solve when I applied the decorative slip on for the water it was a very thick layer and it cracked, so after the first firing I tried to repair it best I could with the vinegar method

Stained Glass Kiwi Bird
Made as a 21st birthday present for my dear kiwi friend @kenj.taylor 🇳🇿🥝💖

First stained glass piece I‘ve ever done and it was super super fun I really want to continue with this form of art. Takes incredible precision and I got really into the soldering process. Grateful to be expanding my experience as always.

And happy (day late) birthday Kennedy! Much love always.

„Best Friends On The Penobscot“
Oil on canvas. 20“ x 16“

Happy Birthday @_angela.monteleone !! I painted this piece after you visited me in Maine last fall♥️🍁 I‘ve kept it a secret because I wanted to surprise you with it for your birthday:) You‘re abroad in Italy and I‘m in Maine so I‘m not quite sure when/how I‘ll transport this canvas safely to you in STL, but alas I wanted you to know it existed😁 You’re the bestest friend a person could ask for. Here’s to 10 years of friendship💞💞

“Loveliness”. Oil painting. 18x22.

One of my absolute favorite pieces from this semester in Painting 1. The assignment was to “paint red without using red” and so I chose to paint ladybugs which are iconically red🐞 Had a lot of fun using big brushes to blend the background. I liked how saturated and bright the colors turned out too! It was such a fun exercise to get creative with the colors I was using because I couldn’t use red! It arose the question how do we make people feel something merely through a painting? Will somebody look at this and feel the color red? I hope so.

While painting this piece I learned that a “loveliness” is the word for a group of ladybugs - HOW LOVELY😁

Edit [3 months later]: UM HELLO TO ANYONE DEBATING SUBMITTING PIECES TO THE STUDENT SHOW - GUESS WHAT. SUBMIT‼️You never know what will happen. I fully thought this would be worth nothing to anyone else. But I took a risk and BAM NOT ONLY ACCEPTED TO STUDENT EXHIBITION BUT NOW WILL BE DISPLAYED IN THE UMAINE PRESIDENTS OFFICE FOR THE 2026-2027 SCHOOL YEAR. Anything is possible folks don’t give up❤️ by @amyyy.arts

My copy of Le Désespéré (The Desperate Man) by Courbet. Oil painting. 16x20 canvas I think??

Learned a LOT from this piece. It’s really hard to paint people😹 There is so much that goes into it. But it’s so important to practice the things we struggle with in order to get better:) My favorite part of this piece was his sleeves. I spent SO MANY HOURS on those sleeves and I think that is evident in how they turned out. The face/neck definitely need some work as well as some highlights in his hair, but overall please with how this turned out. Very beneficial to take time with your preliminary sketch/underpainting so that your project is set up well!

First 4 abstract oil paintings. Only allowed to use the primary colors/mix them. Although supposed to be non-representational Ed said that the first one should be titled “Man in a lighting storm”🕺⚡️ because the purple figure in the bottom left, and the yellow triangle in the center. Funny what you create when trying not to create anything recognizable!!! The last one Ed said should be “Landing on the runway”🛩️ I like that, I think the last one is definitely showing some speed.

These were fun, good to get to know the oil painting medium better😁 Also learning not to touch anything with paint on my hands, especially my face hence the last picture showing a selfie taken on the flip with alizarin crimson on mah lip😹😹😹😹😹😹
