🏆We did it! I am thrilled to announce that on May 14th, we won the Better Business Bureau Torch Award for Ethics in Dayton, Ohio!

🏆In November 2023, we were honored to receive Business of the Year Honoree. In December 2023, we received another honor of being nominated for the Better Business Bureau (BBB) Torch Award for Ethics. From January 2024 to March 2024, we worked tirelessly to prepare for this prestigious award, and in April, the judges visited our site to hear from our employees and partners.

🏆Winning the Better Business Bureau (BBB) Torch Award for Ethics is significant because it boosts our credibility and trustworthiness. Also, this award sets our company apart by highlighting our commitment to ethical practices, which enhances our reputation and builds customer confidence.

🏆Tears rolled down my face in front of 500 people as I gave a speech while thanking God that my city and clients see the hard work my team and I have poured into our services.

A week ago today, The Schuster Center was full of people to see and hear my business name called amongst other prestigious business winners and honorees. I am very thankful to the judges, the workers, photographers, The Dayton Business Journal, Soin, Wright-Patt Credit Union, Wright State University, Delta Dental, Think Patented, and the Schuster Center for your time, hospitality, and sponsorship. I am sending a special thank you to Hannah Poturalski (green dress). Hannah, you have been more than an editor to me. You have been my supporter and someone I consider a friend. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all you do to encourage me. As many of you know, I started my career over in 2019 after serving 23 years as an educator and school administrator. Anchored With Excellence was just a dream, but a dream I knew would turn into reality. I now transform schools, women, children, and families how I envisioned four years ago. The moment you realize…you did it Dee! You started your career over because you believed in you even when others didn’t. God I thank you for those tears and long hours of seeing my vision come true. What happens when you finally write it down?

Over the years, I have bought a lot of journals.

I’ve filled the pages with thoughts, prayers, pain, questions, and some of the most difficult decisions and experiences of my life.

Writing gave me a safe place to acknowledge what I was carrying and a place to:

👉🏼 Tell the truth about what I was feeling.

👉🏼 Process what I had experienced.

👉🏼 Put things I wasn’t ready to say out loud.

👉🏼 Release what I had been carrying.

👉🏼 Pray and connect more deeply with God.

👉🏼 Look back and see just how far I’ve come.

Journaling became a form of self-care and healing that helped me process, release, and support my emotional regulation.

To this day, I still journal and teach my coaching clients to do the same.

You don’t have to carry everything either.

Release the weight. Let the journal carry it.

Are you working hard for success but sacrificing your peace to get it?

No amount of money is worth becoming successful in a life you don’t have peace with.

I know because I’ve lived it.

Titles, salaries, and professional successes will come, but what about your freedom, joy, and peace?

Those matter too.

Being compensated well for the work you do is important, but so is having the freedom to enjoy the life you’re working so hard to build.

Make the money. Do the work. Be successful. Just don’t sacrifice your peace to get there.

If you want to transform, invest in yourself.

On June 30, 2023, I recorded the video in the second slide after attending CD1 (Conscious Discipline), where I was introduced to the work for the first time. It changed my life forever!

At the time, I had no idea where that investment would lead.

In May of this year, I was hired as a Conscious Discipline Certified Instructor. This journey required commitment, preparation, and a lot of work behind the scenes. And now I can finally share the news🥹.

Through Anchored With Excellence and now as a Certified Instructor, I get to expand my reach and impact, working with schools, educators, and organizations to create safe spaces where adults and children can thrive.

On my journey to get here, I’ve gained some incredible friends. Erin, @erin_gillis_janssens I’ve been telling you for months that I had something I wanted to share with you. Surprise! I’m so grateful our Conscious Discipline journey brought us together.

Your investment may not look like mine, but I promise you, the work you’re putting into yourself will produce fruit, even if you can’t see it yet.

What do trauma-informed schools need in order to truly feel safe for educators and students?

☑️ Understand brain states and how they impact behavior.

☑️ Build relationships before correction or redirection.

☑️ Create predictable environments and expectations.

☑️ Pay attention to tone, body language, and how we enter spaces.

☑️ Respond to behavior with curiosity before judgment.

In June, I spoke at the Attachment & Trauma Network’s @attachtraumanetwork Creating Trauma-Sensitive Schools Conference in Dallas, where educators and school leaders from across the country came together to learn and grow. I presented Transforming Classroom Walkthroughs for School Leaders Using Trauma-Informed Practices.

Ginger and Jodi, thank you for believing in my work, welcoming me into the network, and giving me the opportunity to share what we deeply care about. I’m grateful for our connection, and I can’t wait until we do it again! 💜

Summer is officially over for me 🥰. Exactly three months ago today, I stepped away from social media and gave myself permission to take a break, reset, and enjoy life. And let me tell you, the West Coast was good to me☀️🌴!!!!

Sometimes thriving means giving yourself permission to step away.

Two bucket-list moments checked off! ✔️✔️

This summer I finally got to see the Hollywood Sign in person AND take that famous photo on South Windsor Boulevard with the Hollywood Sign perfectly centered between the palm trees. 😍

But this trip became so much more than two things on my bucket list.

California. Hollywood. LA. Las Vegas. Museums. Concerts. Comedy shows. Amazing food. New experiences. And even meeting new people who became friends.

We spend so much time taking care of responsibilities, meeting deadlines, showing up for other people, and moving on to the next thing that we can forget to actually enjoy the life we’re working so hard to build.

I work hard. I love what I do. But I’ve also learned the importance of making room to LIVE.

There will always be another deadline, another responsibility, and something else that needs your attention.

Ladies, put some experiences on your bucket list too. Take the trip. See something you’ve always wanted to see. Try something new. Meet people. Laugh. Eat good food. Make memories. LIVE.

Because thriving isn’t only about what you’re accomplishing.

It’s also about enjoying the life you’re building. 💜💜💜
