A crop of my photo of the Crane Petroglyph in the Bears Ears National Monument.
On Monday the current administration will reduce this monument by 85%, reducing the protection of this vast cultural landscape.
This is an amazing area filled with canyon, cliffs and is home to an astounding quantity of archeological sites.
The Bears Ears National Monument is one of the darkest spots within the continental United States. Our dark skies are a rapidly diminishing luxury. The Bears Ears National Monument is one of the few spots where one can see the same sky people witnessed hundreds of years ago.

And most importantly, this monument is a living cultural landscape to this continent's original, native inhabitants, the land is a family member which needs to be cared for.

Join us at a protest rally at the Utah State Capitol today at 1pm.

I'm selling calendars of my artwork in which all of the profits will go to a legal fund to battle the reduction of the moment. Link in profile. by @ancient_sky

On the edge of the Grand Gulch in the Bears Ears National Monument the moon sits over the canyon while nested within the core of our Milky Way.

I found this alignment while looking at maps. I drove a thin track through the trees then walked through the piñon forest until the soil turned to stone and the edges of the ground grew steeper and steeper. The ground then fell away abruptly and I saw the prehistoric Grand Gulch before me.

I love taking photos like this, probably more than I like the actual photos. They are a brief foray into the unknown, even if I’ve been there previously. When the sun slowly sets and everything is draped in either starlight or moonlight, it all transforms into a unique time and place, a time and place of how the planet once was.
These special moments/places are why I feel we need to hold on to land like those within the Bears Ears.

And just a reminder, The book 85for85 is undergoing another round of printing. Myself and numerous other artists have contributed. So if you didn’t order copies on the previous round now is your chance. We all have until November 11th 2018 to contribute. @85for85

I've posted this photo a ton before but I'm happy to announce that the I won 2nd place in the Wiki Loves Monuments 2018 in the United States Photography Contest. "2,000 people contribute over 10,000 photos of cultural and historic sites from all over the United States and its territories." According to Wikimedia.
It's wonderful that organizations like Wikimedia is supportive of our public lands. @WikiLovesMonuments

Recent out and back trip through the San Rafael Swell. Started up Eagle Canyon and wandered through Sagebrush bench while checking out rim viewpoints until camping above the Luck Strike Mine in Reds Canyon. A little sandy but it would always ease up right when I felt I couldn't take anymore.

Took a venture into the Maze of Canyonlands during Utah's mid-March heatwave with my friend Jake. Round trip of ninety miles via bike and foot (sandy hike-a-bike, sooo fun) got us to the Doll House campsite. The Colorado River was the main water source requiring a 1200ft climb to get water to camp, best to suck it up and get the manual labor done in a single trip.
Canyons were explored. Beauty was seen and walked through. And a fortuitous pothole of immaculate water made sure our cells were nice and saturated on the exit.
Hard riding and intense remoteness. Would definitely repeat but would prefer some cooler temps! taken in The Maze, Canyonlands National Park by @ancient_sky

First trip with a camera in a looooooong time only to find my camera didn't work. Made due with the ol'phone camera. Best camera is the one you have.

Several days of blessed wanderings. Visiting old haunts and a few new.
