In today’s post, I’m sharing how I made the cover for my ZINE.

For the cover, I used a piece of paper I had already hand-painted. The first step was varnishing, to add a bit of shine, protect the design, and make it more durable for year-long use.

Using this paper, I built the cover and added a gold elastic cord to attach the cover to the inside of the ZINE. I placed it right in the center( page 4 and 5), so the booklet stays secure while still being flexible and able to grow as the project evolves.

For now, I’ve added a temporary closure using clip with a tag. This isn’t the final closure yet, as I don’t know how thick the zine will be by the end, since it will keep growing as I decorate and fill it.

Once the challenge is finished, I’ll adjust the closure to the final thickness and create the final version, leaving both the cover and the ZINE fully finished.

Paper Bag Zine Tutorial

Turn one paper bag into an 8-page zine — simple, fun and perfect for Good Things 2026 Challenge #GoodThingsZine2026

Materials:
– Paper bag
– Ruler
– Pencil
– Scissors or craft knife
– Cutting mat

Steps:
1️⃣ Open the paper bag completely and flatten it.
2️⃣ Cut the bag into one long rectangle (about 60 × 30 cm).
3️⃣ Fold the paper vertically in half twice.
4️⃣ Fold the paper horizontally in half once, creating 8 equal sections.
5️⃣ Cut along the horizontal fold, from the folded edge to the center intersection.
6️⃣ Fold the paper horizontally again, keeping the slit on the inside.
7️⃣ Stand the paper up and gently push the ends together to form the zine pages.
8️⃣ Start creating ✂️✨

✨ Tip: Step 7 can feel a little tricky if it’s your first zine — go slowly and let the folds guide the pages into place.

This format gives you 8 small pages (15 x 15 cm) from one paper bag 🤎

Happy New Year Everybody! I have some exciting news about the Good Things Jar for 2026!

This year I have decided to team up with my very talented friend Itziar @and_.styles for a Good Things ZINE Challenge for 2026! Make sure you go and FOLLOW her so you don’t miss any Good Things!

We both will be sharing some Zine folding tutorials to help you get started. The zines will be approximately 6” x 6” (15 cm * 15 cm) in size. There will be 8 pages and 4 pockets to complete and we will create one page or pocket insert for each month.

We still encourage you to write down your Good Things and keep them in your jar! These can always be used as personal prompts to inspire you as you create each month.

✨ 10 Days of Bits and Pieces 2026 ✨

And that’s a wrap!

What a wonderful 10 days of creativity! One of my favourite things about this challenge was how many scraps I managed to use! Little bits of paper, leftover materials and forgotten treasures all found a new purpose.
And even the cover got a second life! I made it from an old envelope I received in the mail. ♻️💚

I love giving scraps a second life, and this challenge was the perfect excuse to dive into my scrap box (which, somehow, is still full! 🤭).

I’ve tried new techniques, learned new things and enjoyed every single prompt! And there’s still one thing on my to-try list: stamping with white acrylic paint, just like I saw in one of the inspiring posts. Definitely something I want to experiment with!

10 Days of Bits & Pieces 2026
Day 10 – Focal Point

For the final prompt, I made these DIY Polaroid-style photos, inspired by Mia’s beautiful post! I loved her idea so much that I just had to give it a try! I’d never made anything like this before, and I’m so happy with how they turned out!

What a wonderful 10 days of creativity! I’ve had so much fun, tried new things and learned so much along the way.

10 Days of Bits & Pieces 2026
Day 8 – Stitching

For today’s prompt, I decided to give an old shirt a second life!
I used a piece of white cotton fabric, dyed it with coffee for a vintage look, and added some stitching around the edges. Then I used double-sided patterned paper to create two little pockets, perfect for tucking away tags, scraps and other little paper treasures.

I thought this could make a lovely page for a future journal! I really enjoy combining fabric and paper, especially when I’m giving old materials a new purpose. ♻️💕

I’m loving how this challenge keeps inspiring me to experiment, reuse and find new ways to play with materials I already have. A little extra appreciation for @inky.mia and @hilltop_view_journals for keeping our creativity flowing! ❤️

I absolutely love using scraps, so this challenge is perfect for me! 🤎
There’s something so satisfying about giving all those little leftover pieces a new life instead of throwing them away.

My big good thing this September is starting a new project that I really want to commit to: crocheting a cosy little blanket for the sofa. 🧶🍂

It’s my goal for this autumn, and I’m really excited to see it slowly come together.
Hopefully, I’ll be able to show you the finished blanket in a few months!

September has been a very busy month, so my page has naturally taken on those cosy early-autumn vibes — a little reminder to enjoy the small things.
Another little pocket of memories added to my Good Things Zine.

I love when one handmade piece becomes part of another — paint, cut, fold… and suddenly those papers have a whole new life. ♻️💛
