I happened to be traveling through NYC on 4/20 so decided to find out where people were gathering to do some people watching and see the culture. I went to Washington Square Park and it did not disappoint. There were joints as big as burritos. Clouds of smoke filled the air like fireworks on fourth of July. There was sword fighting, skateboarders, chess competitions, soccer and so much laughter. It was one of the chillest crowds of people I have ever been in and made me think about how this scene is not legal in many places in the world. by @and_anne

Integrating into Omaha has been a ride. I did not sign up for it but once I was here I began discovering things about myself and the world that all my travels hadn’t showed me. Things caused friction such as : the cultural differences that are subtle but enough to make me feel like sand paper rubbing up against them. The staying put and figuring out my own boundaries and limitations- something I so readily sacrifice for the sake of experience. The lack of a background here which allowed for more misunderstandings and need for communication.
This weekend I had friends from California visit and I got to show and tell with them my heart and joys here. I got to add the feeling of home they give me to my ever building collection of moments holding me up when my world here still feels shaky. The 1,558 miles between us feels shorter thanks to the theory of relativity and the perspective I’m looking at it now. It’s less two separate worlds and more a long commute for a day of painting in the sun spot of my yard, throwing Ruby her tennis ball, and speed talking about the thoughts that buzz around in our heads.

La Lagunilla market in CDMX every Sunday was so pleasing to my senses. It was chaos that I loved until I was frolicking around trying to find 10 pesos to go to the bathroom- it got to the goosebump level (if you ca relate).
There was a wedding, artists selling original pieces, antiques, vintage clothes, rare art books, street food, wine slushies, and no personal space- I loved it! Here are some moments I froze so you could be there with me. taken in La Lagunilla Market by @and_anne

A walk through Bosque de Chapultepec.
I like capturing all the dancing. The light dancing, the sounds dancing, the people dancing, and life dancing. So many details to each moment that overwhelm my senses with an exhilarating high as I’m trying to take them all in. Here are a few i paused to let linger longer. by @and_anne

I’m loving looking through my Mexico photos. Wondering which ones are only interesting to me, wondering why I find beauty in some things like the perfectly trimmed trees standing tall, proud but embarrassed, like a dog that just got a fresh haircut. Or hanging laundry out the window for strangers and neighbors to see the insides of each other’s closets.
-This world is so much, it’s nice to focus on some of the smaller details like the work we are all doing to be alive. And how the shadows move as the earth spins around the sun. And the pattern we do things in, like throwing 5 tortillas onto a grill- do we repeat it every time or switch it up?

My last day with Millie.
Gah I am the luckiest to have known companionship like this.
She comforted my mom after my dad died, moved with her from California to Omaha to start a life here. Then her and I comforted each other after my mom died and that changed the entire trajectory of where I thought I was going.
She always said yes to my impulsive adventures. She went everywhere with me, all the parties, all the bike rides, all the runs, all the art shows, all the emotional ups and downs of life. We traveled around the country together and she helped me make friends and a home here when Omaha was the last place I wanted to be.
Millie you were sweet and grounded me, you were mine and I was yours. RIP bestie 4/9/25 taken in Omaha, Nebraska by @and_anne

Ramen Hood appreciation post. Ramen Hood is a vegan ramen restaurant run by two ying and yang chefs named Rahul and Ilan. Their store front is in downtown LA and they bring a group of us to the desert to feed the hipster hippies of Coachella. I started doing this in 2017 and have worked the past 7 Coachellas with them. Our team of 10+ people are stuck together for 10 days non stop with a 2 day break in between in a beautiful Airbnb to sleep and a 10x30 booth the rest of the time. We party and get sleep deprived. We slip out for a concert then come back and sling noodles. We make inside jokes and also get mad at each other. It’s some kind of family that has welcomed me in and makes sure to keep me humble. I can feel my growth since I started with them while also somehow still being too sensitive for this industry.
As I leave to head to my 6th home since working for them, I feel full from over eating and full with ideas/lessons to bring into my new adventure of a communal living/work/art space.
