I am always stoked to see my American friends play live in Norway. I was happy to see @possessed_official in Oslo a few weeks ago. I wish I could return the pleasure, but it’s literally impossible for a band like @cadavertheband to go to the USA. Here is why:
Just comparing US vs Norway touring logistics and the difference is insane right now
🇺🇸 US band playing Norway:
• No visa/work permit needed (up to 14 days).
• Flat 15% artist tax.
• Promoter handles all govt paperwork and tax deductions. You literally just show up and play.
🇳🇴 Norwegian band playing US:
• ESTA strictly forbidden. Forced to get P-1/O-1 visas, union letters, and do embassy interviews.
• Have to pay the $2,805 Premium Processing fee just to bypass the 6-month backlog.
• Brutal 30% automatic IRS withholding on gross income, unless we hire a US CPA to file a CWA 45 days in advance.
Basically, we roll out the red carpet and handle the admin for you, while we have to spend months and thousands of dollars just to legally set foot on a US stage! by @andersodden
