It will never happen exactly like this- said about all martial arts practice ever.
But developmental drills are key.
Timing and reaction - key.
That is the key of this counter for counter free flow.
When you involve a weapon everything changes. This is not a debate but a fact.
Weapons education goes two ways;
An equalizer against a much stronger, bigger opponent - of course.
But also a very dangerous and tricky range when you are the one facing it.
While weapons education is crucial - it is also not to be taken lightly. #Ateam || keeping it 💯 since 1996

This past Sunday, Anderson’s students stepped onto the mats at @grapplingindustries and represented our academy with true heart, discipline, and courage. Competition is never just about medals, it’s about trusting your training, facing pressure head-on, and growing through every moment. Our team did exactly that, earning an incredible 7 medals and, more importantly, showing the character and resilience that defines our community.

We are beyond proud of the dedication, consistency, and mindset each of these athletes brings to training every single day. Watching that hard work translate onto the competition mats is why we do what we do.
Congratulations to:

Piero Alessi

Congratulations to our newest Blackbelts!!@doctorzeuss @thisguy.o_o and @vic_the_kick

Belts and certificates are just symbols. They are always secondary to the actual skill and effort it takes to get one. If you don't put in the time and effort and you don't develop the skill, a belt is meaningless. But that doesn't happen at #andersonsmartialarts #ATeam #unstoppable #congratulations to all of you🙏🏼 by @andersonsmartialarts

David Agbodji, also known as “The Airwalker,” has a second, lesser-known moniker: his last name, which translates to “Heart of Bull.” This name might seem at odds with his more popular persona, but for the rising Muay Thai star, personas are simply a means to carve out his place in the sport. The New York based fighter is now poised to face his biggest test yet. In his upcoming world title fight against the seasoned Dmitry Varats, Agbodji steps into the ring with not just a shot at becoming a world champion, but with the weight of his rapidly growing legacy on his shoulders.

Agbodji holds deep respect for Varats, particularly the Belarusian’s wealth of experience. However, for Agbodji, the key to this fight will be the mental game.

“I have a lot of respect for him, his skill set, and his experience. Experience can trump skills sometimes. He may be able to express his skills more freely than me if I allow it. That’s the mental battle I have with myself—to perform like I would in any gym. When I do that, I believe I’ll outskill him.”

For Agbodji, this world title bout is not just about the fight at hand; it represents the culmination of his own personal journey. While many may focus on the legacy-defining moment a win could bring, the significance of the fight, for him, lies in the challenge Varats presents, not the potential future accolades.

“I haven’t put much thought into that yet. At the moment, I only care about the quality and danger my opponent presents. This is my last stone in my storyline—Varats is the big boss, and I always finish the game.”

Agbodji is determined to make a statement in this world title bout not just for the fans, but for himself. He’s ready to prove he belongs in the spotlight.

“My message is simply that I have arrived. It’s more a message for myself really.”
