Like Meg said…They still tryna find a thing that I can’t do!

Running my first marathon in London was a once in a lifetime experience. From starting off my training experience in physical therapy (I don’t have Megan knees) to the most brutal winter, I’m so proud of the persistence and determination I was able to maintain.

Towards the end of my training journey, I said goodbye to a very dear friend who was a long distance runner. I dedicate this race and journey to Tatiana. Thanks for showing me that we can run too even before it was trendy. My beautiful friend, I’m so sad you’re gone. I’ll never forget you and our friendship. 🕊️💙

Thank you to everyone, friends and family who supported me through this journey. And the multiple run clubs that let me pop in for an extra push. Thanks for giving so many people sorely-needed community.

Also, special shoutout to my mom and dad who cheered me on during their anniversary (my mom surprised me 🥹) and to my Sorors and friends for life @sucha_treasure and @missgg04 who hopped the pond to do London tings!!!

In typical ME fashion I’ve been running long distances for close to a decade and JUST NOW decided it was time to run my first half marathon.

Why now? In retrospect the distance was never as important to me as the relationships and memories I built with the @districtrunningcollective or with my #ragnarrelay folks. I wasn’t really trying to prove anything before, other than a friendly overtaking of someone on the #ragnarrelay road 😉

Post 2020 things just felt different. 2021 was tough. I went through surgery for a torn Achilles tendon. I lost my grandma. I left a job with people who has been my family for years. I lost my health. I lost a lot of things. After all that I felt I needed to challenge myself in a different way. This half-marathon journey was far from perfect but it taught me so many things. I taught me the power of consistency, not to chase perfection, to lean on others and to allow time for growth instead of always rushing it.

I’m grateful to my friends who cheered me on from afar. (@cherri_amor @angelaftercancer @joselyntowns @mayaleo__ @necolejack @hollywood721) And those who brought me to tears after my feet and legs started to cramp after being on my feet constantly the days prior. (@heybreana_ @elle_kel)And I’m grateful for my LS (@melody.ayshay) who ran with me and gave me space to just feel my feels when I wanted to drop out the day before.
